Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would read Jenson's remark as it relates to putting power down out of corners. Taking into account, that in terms of rear grip the McLaren butterfly wishbones must be of superior benefit if anything.JimClarkFan wrote:Jenson seems to be implying that the Mercedes has lots more rear downforce compared to other cars
Apparently the Ferrari has seemless shift on downshift as well as up shift (all cars up shift seemlessly)motobaleno wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtHDxhWxqq0
the 3 engines sound massively different. ferrari has definitely some trick when downshifting and merc...dunno... anyone hear something going on in middle and exit of the corner? ...but really I don't know
No he said downforce, will try and find the link I have been watching...321apex wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would read Jenson's remark as it relates to putting power down out of corners. If such was the case, the "smart" modulation of MGU-K power input would make it seem that way. Jenson also assumes, that he has the same at his disposal as Rosberg or Hamilton, and while theoretically this may be true, in practical terms I am not certain and would not bet any money on it.
He kinda said something about DF but not clearly what he was alluding to or whom. Perhaps Bahrain is a track known to put premium on cars with rear grip and he felt McL don't have it while someone else does.JimClarkFan wrote:No he said downforce, will try and find the link I have been watching...321apex wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would read Jenson's remark as it relates to putting power down out of corners. skip to Jenson @ 4.10
From the video he seems to say that Mercedes probably aren't struggling for DF due to their laptime.JimClarkFan wrote:Jenson seems to be implying that the Mercedes has lots more rear downforce compared to other cars
Downforce has many uses.mrluke wrote:From the video he seems to say that Mercedes probably aren't struggling for DF due to their laptime.JimClarkFan wrote:Jenson seems to be implying that the Mercedes has lots more rear downforce compared to other cars
I think all you can read into that is that JB doesnt feel he has enough DF to match the laptime done by Mercedes.
Love these cars, great noise too.Gaara wrote:FOM highlights from the final day of testing

I'm wondering if they are practicing using ERS to run through the pit lane so that they can save fuel for the race. Every little counts.Blackout wrote:It's me or the Merc and Mclaren seem to rely mainly on the Kers in the pit lane ?
I don't see how it could save them anything. All the energy still has to come from the fuel, electric power used in the pit lane is just less electric power to use on the trackSiLo wrote:I'm wondering if they are practicing using ERS to run through the pit lane so that they can save fuel for the race.
