At least according to F1Fanatic the maximum (officially recorded?) speed in Bahrain was 314kph, so those 340kph is something that one first have to achieve, let alone with 1.6l V6s.

Alonso was already measured with 336 I believe last week.

This "75HP less than Mercedes" rumor looks like total BS to me, or Ferrari has a drag coefficient of a Prius...

But in case of AUMS post they clearly wrote the top speed of F14T si 339 KM/ph.

I just wanted to say that at least on topspeed they are the fastest, and to reach those top speeds with such amount of downforce/drag a lot of engine power is needed...

Actually it says 339,6km/h. On picture we saw earlier we have seen speeds without and decimal digits which would mean that everything that it lower than X.5 is rounded as X, while X.5 or faster is rounded as X+1

And facts say that the Williams for example proved to be more reliable and was faster than the Mclaren when both did their race sims in day2. The Williams was fastser even when the Mclaren used the softer tires in it last stint. So why place the Mclaren ahead? useless predictions anyway.

I don't dare to say anything about the speed of certain teams, but I do think the Williams has proven to be very reliable (I think the most reliable team of them all in testing?)
Given that, I give them a good chance at a podium in Melbourne, even if they're only 4th fastest.

I would not be surprised to see Williams slugging it out with McLaren, or indeed even besting them early in the season. Whether they have the wherewithal to keep it up for an entire season, I don't know. But I do hope that Massa gets another shot at glory. He deserves it.

McLaren doesn't look all that good to me, frankly. Force India does not seem so fast, but at least the look solid so they may grab a lot of points early in the season due to others' failure, if the tests are any indication of reliability and consistency.

I wonder where Ferrari will be, though. I just pray Alonso won't have to carry that car on his back for another season.

Finally, I expect RBR to work it out and be competitive at least for the second half of the season, and possibly much sooner.

The only way to use more fuel this year is to stay on the throttle longer, because all engines will use the same amount of fuel from 10,500-15,000 RPM regardless of the power produced. Fuel-flow in that range is capped at 100kg/hour in the regulations.

Now, it will be the case on some circuits that teams will have to back off the throttle occasionally during the race in order to comply with the regulation that limits overall fuel consumption to 100kg. It won't be necessary at every circuit, but when it is, it will affect all teams. In that way, it won't be very different from the tire-saving strategies we've seen over the last couple of years.

Incidentally, Bahrain is likely to be one of those circuits given its acceleration-heavy layout of slow corners and fast straights. These 2012 figures from Renault support that.

Man, I think it`s either wrong figures or it`s something fishy in that table coz I don`t think they have the same 64 litres/100km consumption in Spa like they have in Monte Carlo ... and in Monza the same 62 litres/100km like they have in Hungary, don`t you think?

- Mercedes has advantage of good car, homegrown PU and... two very quick drivers.
- Red Bull with Vettel will be dominant force when/IF they sort cooling issues
- Williams, imho, will do good at least at the beginning and it would be interesting to see what Bottas may do with decent car.
- Ferrari will do more than deserves because of drivers.
- McLaren. I don't think Button can bring more and Kevin is rookie.
- FI will do good (but fall behind during season) and they will engage Mclaren and Ferrari in battles.
- Others will have more reliability problems and simply lack of pace but I expect some nice surprises there also.
