Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Does anyone know where that air is being ducted to from that front hanging pod?

What possible advantage could they get from mounting the cameras like that? Gimmicky feature is gimmicky

Lower drag (ok, the drag coefficient of the body is onla 10% of a rod) and less turbulence. Less turbulence may be very useful, because RB is shaping the vortices with the front struts.

That radiators are massive. Especially the smaller one at the back of the car. Looking forward to see the Renault engine fully unleashed.

but Ted said (during the first test) that Mercs version is aero positive so has a positive effect on the car?

so surely It seems to be red bull have found a clever solution but missed a trick?

I thought the RB10 is using an air-water intercooler when I saw thos pics (because it lies very far from the sidepod air duct. But it seems the RBR has two intercoolers like the other Renault cars... so maybe it's just an air-air intercooler...

With the car that naked now, has somebody spotted what it was that was cooled with those little extra tubes in Bahrain?

Also with that angle of the radiators and packaging, is there a lot of airflow within the sidepods? To my untrained eye it looks as if the bodywork tightly covers all the parts and, if at all, the air from the sidepod opening just gets squeezed through.....

No the intercooler I'm talking about is your red arrow. Your green arrow points to the part of the bodywork that prevents the sidepods cooling air from expanding and going around the airbox IMO. It keeps that air low and help it keep its energy.
Your yellow arrow shows an interesting cooling channel for the electronics.

So the intake in green feds the s-duct

but what are the red ones for? Do they suck air into the pod in front of the nose an canalise it somewhere else? where to? drivers feet again? ^^

Red ones are for driver cooling.

Driver cooling I think.
