Does anyone know what a hoagie (or hogie or hoagy) is? Heard it mentioned on the team radio during the race, a bit of digging has found it was mentioned again in the 2013 Japanese Grand Prix (to Rosberg again)..

2014 AUS : (L17) So, go strat seven. No more “hogies” required currently.
2013 JAP : (L11) So target three, important to pull the gap to Massa, currently 1.8 seconds. So Nico if you’re feeling comfortable like some hoagie 25s, just to help on fuel.
2013 JAP : (L47) At the end of this lap we have seven laps remaining. Gutierrez you are over a second a lap quicker than him, he is five seconds up the road. And we need Hoagie 25s.

I asked on Twitter, Scarbs said there was a Mercedes Engineer called Hoagy - A quick search on LinkedIn says he was involved with KERS and Fuel systems amongst other things.. I was thinking Fuel saving mode, KERS recovery mode or something similar..
Any answers/opinions?

Don't know if someone spotted it first, but Mercedes has closed lower part of "U" central section of diffuser (ph Sutton - Motorsport Magazine)
EDIT: Matt Somers has already spotted it on Twitter =D>

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the closed c*nt was among the first thing that were noticed around here. Certainly an interesting detail. I wonder what kind of vortex this creates and how they are intended to help...

Where do you think Somers first saw that detail ;).

It act's like a gurney. It might be hinged too.

It's not (intentionally) creating a vortex there. There's nothing beyond that point on the car to curate the air flow for. Instead it'll either be because the FIA told them "no, you need to put a flap to cover up your starter motor hole", or because it acts like a little gurney on the flow through the starter motor slit, and forces it up a bit more, creating even more low pressure at the exit of the diffuser.

We need some scalabroni drawings of the Merc i think ;)
It has so many interesting features i´m surprised he or Peter never really covered it much.

Found this gem too, Button´s teamradio,

"What are the laptimes that the leaders are doing? Obviously not the Mercedes, but the rest."
"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward, then brother that person is a piece of sh*t"

I indeed noticed that, and I believe it was done to increase velocity creating lower pressure, and I bet it has a little ramp inside which we of course cannot see, rather than just plainly being blocked off.

no mention of the placement of the intercooler, I still think its a Top mount, rather than a side pod mount like the fake 3D Press PR video shows. Top mount above the engine and cooled by ram air from the air box.

This is incredible. I just saw this add in my local newspaper, translated into my native language!

So, did they manage to create that add, distribute it worldwide, translate it, print it and got it on the shelves in 3 days??

Or did they know they'd win and created the add previously? One can't help but wonder...at least Mercedes are getting Bang for their buck now.

The marketing department would have had it made during last week. This is precisely what "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" is.

Schumacher had thousands of "1997 F1 World Champion" T-shirts made before the final race of the 1997 season.

Ricciardo has a similar one.
