Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ok, i'm curious about that big number Nico keeps adjusting during the lap, goes 55-61, i believe (with no evidence whatsoever) that it's something related to ERS... does anyone have a definitive answer? Or a solid guess?

After he crosses the line you can see him turning down the engine going from mode 7 to 1, very visible on the screen.

Pretty certain it's brake balance, no longer a paddle but a sophisticated setting on the steering wheel.

Just look how much difference between the two new front wing 1st picture was used in free practice but the 2nd the less drag was used more often than the other one and the less drag front wing is also the one they used in qualy and also for the race

mercedes have a good top speed but this wing helps even more less drag=greater top speed quite interesting =D>

The big number you see him change is brake bias, remember it's a steering wheel process this season due to BBW

You just posted another pic of the same fw. Perhaps you would like to enlighten us to the changes so we can see where you've been mistaken?

I can't see any differences on the wings in any of those 3 pic's?

He's talking about the AOA of the upper flap. It's flatter on the second pic.

Look at the first upper flap, and its connected all the way to the left. On 2nd its either cutout or just pushed down to remove some AoA.

But as said ebfore its prob the same wing from different angles so you cant see the AoA on the first properly.

I'll take your word for it - I find wing angles hard to judge unless the pictures are from the same perspective (or I see it "in the flesh").

If its just AOA difference, then surely that's just a setup change, rather than a "new front wing"?
Suggesting it's a new front wing has us looking for structural differences (I can't see any).

This. I realised what was meant I just think the differing angles the photos are taken from may be the cause for this.
