Looks like McLaren could be down in power due to using Mobil instead of Petronas - http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fuel- ... ra-report/

But McLaren keeps saying that they are down in downforce, not power

They sure are down on Downforce.
Not Publicly saying they are down on Power due to the Fuel could be just out of respect for their long Time Fuel/Oil Supplier, that doesn't mean they aren't working on it.

But that should better be discussed in the Team Thread i think.

Anyway of doing a comparison to see if sidepods are slimmer, I don't think they are but could be wrong?

Looks like new aero element on the brakeduct. It was used in testing in Spain, but during the race weekend in Spain, notice that the edges of the aero element looked a less sharper/pointier compared during race weekend in Spain.

So much for the race specific upgrade, seem's as if they are saving up there upgrades for Canada and silverstone then? where they will need to have better straightline speed and more downforce for high speed corner's. If they don't bring anything worthwhile and substantial to Canada im pretty much writing off McLaren for this season. They might be doing the same? plus I don't understand yet what they mean by the statement going radical after silverstone if they don't see any progress.

Scarbs said that McLaren is the only team that takes the internal hot compressed air forwards - chimneys at front of sidepods - and the radiators are not facing forwards. Obviously this is not working to well, and seems they can not get it to work.

This will take a lot of time if they are to re-design this and I agree that if it not done by Silverstone, they will not do it. =D>

All they have really done so far is new FW, front & rear brake ducts, rear suspension arm and small aero detail bits to FW, defuser and rear duct area. Seems more time is spent on suspension development.

Sadly only time will tell. [-o<

They better learn their mistakes this time because there are not large areo-changes to next year!!!!!!

It's not just aerodynamics !!!!!!!!!!!! It's the total package that has to work together !!!!!!!!!!

I hope they can get PP to join earlier and leave DF at Red Bull !!!!!!!!!!

I also think Merc is giving them power units with less power - older versions (being careful of Honda).

Can you quote where scarbs said this? And what indications do you have that the chimneys aren't working as intended?

Scarbs mentioned it in an interview with Peter Windsor on The Racer's Edge. Can't remember which episode.

The chimneys itself might work as intended, but the package as a whole is awful !!!!! As we can see from the results !!!

Ok well then don't say, as you did a few posts earlier, that the chimneys aren't working properly and need to be redesigned. People will take this information as fact and go with it sprouting more misinformation
