Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I splitted off the Teflon Coating from this thread. The discussion was more about the coating itself then its properties on the car. It's interesting and deserved it's own thread. Please do continue discussion there:

Is that the huge Hot Air Exit again? And the Monkey Seat looks different.

That is not the F1 Engine. They are just showcasing some AMG Stuff, like the old Race Car in the Pit this Weekend.

I think it will replace old one, that would create much more drag than this solution. If you look at the other teams they all have a similar kind of solution. I think will race the new seat if they get positive results maybe a bit less downforce but much less drag.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

Or it could be that this monkey seat will be used in conjunction with the big hot air exit, seeing it's located above the hot air exit?
The normal monkey seat is located much lower and the big hot air exit blocks the airflow, which could reduce its efficiency.

Just my 2 cents

Don't know if it just an illusion but the side pods hot air exits look flatter.

Looks like a totally new cooling exit both around the exhaust and lower down.

Noticed that as well earlier, but as no one said anything, I thought my eyes were deceiving me and I couldn't be arsed to check.

Moral of the day: Don't be lazy and don't doubt yourself.

(It's very unclassy of me, I know, but in that pic it looks like the car absolutely shat itself).

I moved the FRIC posts into the dedicated FRIC ban thread. Please post FRIC stuff in that thread, not in the individual car threads..
