Surely the FIA doesn't read anything on here but years of benign outcomes is lulling race authorities back into a false sense of safety. Case in point being the Sutil crash in Germany or so....the safety care should have been out just as it should have here too. I hope for his, family's and friends' sake he pulls through

He's been a liability for years now.

Does not look like the head took the whole impact. The twitter pic just shows back of the car. I thing he kind of semi-hitted the back of truck with his left side, don´t think he got completly under it but he probably hit his head in the truck. The roll-hoop/airbox seems quite complete.

Really hope his OK but it´s very serious and i have bad feelings. There will be discussion if the SC should not have deployed. But also for me Bianchi is a risk taker, he probebly didn´t lift to much.

That looks very bad, the whole headrest is gone.
We can only hope that the safety team tore it apart during the extrication process.

The headrest has to be removed before the driver's extraction. The damage to the airbox is more worrying.
But let's just wait and pray for the best.

Unfortunately the cockpit has been squished up to the "E" Letter on white circled ground (hard to describe) further back of the headrest area.

Obviously my thoughts are with Jules. I think everyone has to be thankful that none of the Marshalls were hit as well.

Surely a review of Safety Car procedures must follow this.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

For the comparison, dont think they changed it during the season

Why do you think it is to blame? The way I understand SC (together with medical car) was deployed AFTER Bianchi's crash.

Not the way I would like to see any race ended. I hope Jules ends up ok. The photos make it look really bad.

Personally, I think the safety car should have been deployed as soon as they decided to bring a crane into the track. The track conditions were worsening and if one car can lose it at that corner, another one could do so (and did) as well.

Its more that heavy vehicle should only enter the track under full course yellow, i e every one has slowed and been past the initial incident at least once.

Cockpit headrest broken in two.

The roll bar and airbox cover totally mangled
