not sure, I haven't had a look at the long runs yet, but regarding one lap pace Williams, McLaren, Kvyat and Alonso were all within ~2 tenths. Usually Williams can improve on Saturday, so I guess its more likely to be a battle for ~5th or ~6h, so basically where they were in the recent races as well (apart from Singapore)

55k.
Thought it would be more tbh. Thats like a bad weekend at Hockenheim.

Well no reason to build big stands when people aren't coming, realistic approach imo.

apparently Red Bull wanted to change Vettel's engine completely (and therefor start from pit lane), but they don't have enough spare parts to do so...

don't know...a couple of days ago it was rumored that no one could bring updates to Russia because the customs would only allow them to import all parts from Japan directly - maybe that's the reason

edit: yep, confirmed by Marko, importing engine parts is not allowed

Russia don't allow engine parts to be imported? Then why the hell have they invited the F1 circus to town? Pretty ridiculous state of affairs if you ask me.

Of course the allowed engine parts to be imported. What they didn't allow was anything that didn't come straight from Japan. RedBull didn't plan ahead enough to bring the parts to Japan.

This is likely the real reason that Marussia are running only 1 car. Simply not enough spare parts in Japan to completely rebuild the car from scratch.

Maybe I came down in the last shower, but I think Marussia have more integrity than that.

Maybe it has to do with sanctions EU implemented to Russia and they answerd to EU in similar way... I am just guessing

Many countries have rather slow customs and protectionist trade tariffs so major sports events often have agreements to let equipment through without the usual bureaucracy and import taxes. So the media reports seem to infer this exemption only applied to the main F1 cargo planes from Japan, with kit coming in via other routes getting delayed.

Regarding Marussia's second car, it seems parts wasn't a problem because the car has been scrutinised:
Marussia wrote:Jules’ car crew have built a second car, which has been scrutineered and is ready to race, and this will remain on his side of the garage throughout the weekend.
