Force India VJM07 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Perez was being chased by Massa, I think that that is Massa's front right tyre that is getting the load from this lefthand corner.

And how would heat cause reflections?
"Heat" as seen from an IR camera, will produce reflections just like any other light (photons), it is just light of a different frequency. Proof:

The reflection is not complete, as for light in most surfaces, hence the decrease in "temperature", AKA light intensity of the reflected tire. Also different wavelenghts reflect or are absorbed to different degrees, but IR light can produce reflections.

The hot spot inthe rear wing is a permanent feature, so not Massa's tire:

But it seems to be just the reflection of the exhaust (pipe?) in the wing, probably with some lensing ( double reflection from the support itself and the curvature near the wing support.

I guess the vibration came from driving on the kerb. As long as it doesn't hurt aerodynamics teams won't add additional weight to make it stiffer.

Fernley says the team pursued a wrong aero concept mid-season and that's the reason for their dip in pace & results. He says they just worked out what went wrong but would only say they took the wrong development path. I'm going to look back through their updates in hope maybe one can figure out where they went wrong.
