Where is mercedes air to air intercooler?WilliamsF1 wrote:Only ferrari engines using water air intercooler
Lotus may have used a water air inter cooler but not sure.
All other teams using air - air intercoolers
I think thats the clueWilliamsF1 wrote:I don't think there are any pictures of it.................
That looks like a liquid to air heat exchanger. The top tank and the pipework are too small for high volume flow.xpensive wrote:This looks like an ar-to-air intercooler to me, MHPE engine in the McLaren?
I hope the water coming back from the radiators is much cooler than that...mrluke wrote:The customer teams all come up with their own cooling solution.
Mercedes works team appear to have by the far the best solution though, though that is true on most aspects of the Mercedes car this year.
I struggle to see how the main cooling circuit can serve an air to water charge cooler, the engines likely run at over 100deg C. Thats not going to cool the charge air very efficiently.
You are correct of course, I think I was blinded by the central manifold, but why the multiple in- or outlets, is that typical?gruntguru wrote:That looks like a liquid to air heat exchanger.
