What if Magnussen is trying to sign a big sponsor and McLaren is only waiting for this? If Magnussen succeeds, the seat is his. If not, it is for Button.

Like Mclaren is gonna wait for something he should have fixed in the entire past season, or which his manager should have already done by now.....

It's no secret Mclaren has been seeking a big sponsor for quite some time after the Vodafone exit, if he wanted some more hope to gain that seat, he or his manager should have provided the benefits of retaining the seat which wasn't intended to be his seat in the first place.

All the signs point out to not being an issue with the drivers, but an issue with power. Ron Dennis vs the rest, internal struggle at the top, that's what they're dealing with, and because nobody wants to yield you have a mexican standoff.
Now everybody's waiting to see who pulls the gun the fastest.

However there are other authoritative reports that suggest the hold-up could even be related to Alonso’s contract. La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Tuesday that the Spaniard’s contract, although not yet announced, contains a unilateral exit clause.

The news will re-fire speculation Alonso still sees his future at Mercedes in 2016, particularly after the less-than-smooth and downright disappointing track debut of Honda’s new V6 engine recently.

And the latest reports do not stop there as Auto Motor und Sport said Alonso could be so alarmed by the recent Honda test in Abu Dhabi that he might simply choose to sit 2015 out altogether and focus instead on a Le Mans campaign with Porsche.

"Six years from now and when I'm as slow as you?" Don't use twitter when you have to back-pedal everything. Speaking of Button, I'm surprised impartial steward Warwick was so outraged at his compatriot not getting a seat confirmation. At least he didn't get a penalty in Monaco and Magnussen got one for nothing in Monza, right? As A. Green from Force India said recently: for RB's front wing we would have been excluded from the race, like BAR. They know how it works, they know .

As for Magnussen it's not him looking for sponsors but Dennis, sponsors in general not only Danish, although Lego would be a funny one. From rumours: finding sponsors seems to be one of the conditions of him getting to run F1 team, unfulfilled conditions at the moment so we'll see. Board meeting showed it's all hanging on legalities, on the other hand changing team principal might cause even more chaos. No Honda mentioned which may mean they have "their" driver.
