Alonso rules out Lotus move
Fernando Alonso has revealed a little more information about his plans for the 2015 F1 season, ruling out recent suggestions that he raised money to complete a takeover of Lotus.
The Spanish Ferrari driver was again in the middle of rumours during the Russian Grand Prix, with the most recent one being a possible move to Lotus. The Enstone based team has been Alonso's employer on several occasions, and their move to Mercedes power next year made them more interesting than ever.
However, NBC commentator Will Buxton has reported that Fernando Alonso confirmed to him he will not have Mercedes engine power next season. While not saying yet where he is going, the statement immediately rules out Williams as well, a switch that some rumoured to be likely in the light of apparently difficult negotations with McLaren.
Still, ruling out 4 additional teams, what's remaining for Alonso now is McLaren Honda, the expected outcome, but even an extended stay at Ferrari has not been ruled out by any involved party. One other option, but possible the least interesting for Formula One itself, is for Alonso to take a sabbatical before a possible move to Mercedes AMG.
