The data (FPs, Qually and race) is still available at the F1 app as we speak. I don't know if I can still reach it when the new season starts.

Renault & Ferrari are the ones who wanted to extend the cutoff date for the new engines, their hardly likely to waste the opportunity, they will start with 2014 spec as well.

Anyhow, even if they did start with a 2015 engine, I think a 2014 powered Merc would give them a bloody nose.

Odds are that Renault and Ferrari will start with their 2014 units as well. It was them, after all, that wanted this because they needed more time to develop their "current" engine.

McLaren's best opportunity for wins if Merc start with the 2014 spec engine. I still think Merc will edge it though.

You would imagine that Renault and Ferrari had been pushing hard to get as many updates ready for the start of the season prior to the loophole being oked by the fia.

So whilst they may have decided not to rush everything through for the first race given the clarification, I'd be surprised if they didn't want to fix the problems they had as soon as the fix exists. My understanding is that Ferrari are increasing the size of various components and this work must surely have already been done.

Hopefully, this decision of Mercedes' will allow it to be interesting in the first few races, particularly if it turns out that, say, red bull have made great progress on the chassis side.

I don't think so. It will take more than just a better engine to beat Merc.

To keep it simple, they both had the same engine last year so the 29 was well of the W05 chassis wise. It's already a big step forward to match the W05, let alone the W06 which Merc have already said is much better. (ok there are other variables involved i know)

Im not saying its impossible, but some seem to think Macca will get success just because the Honda might be a good engine. They haven't made very good cars lately though.

I wouldn't expect to see the Macca/Honda relationship to fully flex there muscles until 2016 when Peter Prodromou fully designs the car.

Maybe a new design for Lewis then?

It wouldn't surprise me if we don't see it until Jerez tbh, in recent years they have always done that? Apart from when the team became Merc?

But also that doesn't mean it won't be released before the 29th, just Lewis won't need his helmet until the 29th when his driving the car.
