It's well known in racing circles that Gaffa Tape only comes second in strength behind cable ties.matt_s wrote:Gaffa tape is 500MSI, about 10x stronger than high modulus carbon. I thought everyone knew that...
It's testing, and more so, it's the first test. They're not pushing at all. I'd bet if they pushed it there'd be a 1:16 in the car.dans79 wrote:Does anyone have any insight into how hard the car is being pushed? No way, that's a 2005 time around Jerez.Moose wrote:It's testing, and more so, it's the first test. They're not pushing at all. The difference between a Merc and a Sauber was 2/2.5 s last year (it might be smaller now) and Sauber is likely pushing to some degree.
If they can do a 1:22 on heavy fuel, but only a 1:19.5 on better tires with light fuel, that would suggest their race pace is devastatingly fast this year. I find that much less likely than them being a long way from their ultimate pace just now.Blanchimont wrote:My take on possible laptime. In 2013, the best test time was 1:17,8 and the overall record is from 2004 where the F2004 did a 1:15,6. I would add 3%(about the difference between 13 and 14 for Monaco, Singapore and Hungary) to the 2013 time to estimate what a 2015 car can do currently, that would be a 1:20,1.
On the other hand, Vettel already did a 1:20,9 and if we assume that Mercedes is still 1 to 1,5s faster that could result in a 1:19,5.
So my bet is 1:19,5 to 1:20.
Was this on the first day when he did 38 laps?Blanchimont wrote:Do you know how many laps Rosberg did in the stint when clocking the 1:21,9?
The 1:21.9 was today.gray41 wrote:Was this on the first day when he did 38 laps?Blanchimont wrote:Do you know how many laps Rosberg did in the stint when clocking the 1:21,9?
