well think about it.. The W05 was designed around the FRIC systemChene_Mostert wrote:hmm... The plot thickens?
Correct. Another online translation give this statement:Vary wrote:He says that the w06 is a totally different car, NOT an evolutionMoose wrote:The W06 is an evolution of the W05, but still large parts of the layout have changed. This is pretty much a given. Even with past history during free practice and testing, Ferrari seems to run light on fuel, Red Bull and Mercedes heavy. We'll have a good picture after the last Barcelona test.patrik wrote:Moose wrote:The W06 is an evolution of the W05, but still large parts of the layout have changed. Dude, worst translation ever. Don't try if you don't speak Italian, you completely inverted the meaning of two statements.
So,
"The W06 is not an evolution of the W05 like many people said, but a completely new car even in the layout, but I don't want to get into details. In Jerez we're always running full tank and with a racing setup, so everyone else could infer our pecking order... we cannot know where other teams stand if they don't run or run with low fuel. In Barcellona [test] 1 and especially [test] 2 we'll concentrate on pure performance, when all the developments for the [Australia] race will be ready.
That's almost never the case and it's not until we hit the first real race track after the Oz GP that the relative performance of each team can be judged.dren wrote: We'll have a good picture after the last Barcelona test.
You're joking, right? There haven't been many, if any surprises in the last I don't know how many years. The only one I can think of was Red Bull last year after their horrible testing. But then again this is for another thread...Shakeman wrote:That's almost never the case and it's not until we hit the first real race track after the Oz GP that the relative performance of each team can be judged.dren wrote: We'll have a good picture after the last Barcelona test.
Even last year with their massive performance advantage Merc did their best to hide it even in FP3 of Oz GP IIRC.
Yeah i noticed that on the first day. To me it looks like a horizontal flow conditioner with a vortex generator on top, which seems strange as i thought you would have one or the other.Ferraripilot wrote:This component with the turning vane atop is a new item compared to W05 and I'm not sure if this has more of a nozzle effect for airflow beyond this component or if it's more of a flow conditioner aiding laminar airflow attachement, or both? Can anyone explain?

afaik they are similar in application to the Slats you find on the wings on airlinersFerraripilot wrote:This component with the turning vane atop is a new item compared to W05 and I'm not sure if this has more of a nozzle effect for airflow beyond this component or if it's more of a flow conditioner aiding laminar airflow attachement, or both?
