Brilliant!
They are running separate pipes from the wastegates. And they are twin turbosPowershift wrote:Don't get me wrong, I like indycar but the comparison is not fair, the 2.2L is 37.5% more displacement that F1, plus it is not fuel limited and it does not have TERS.kalinka wrote:Just look ( listen ) to this Indycar video from current venue at Long Beach :

I mean...I'm not a sound engineer, but clearly they are doing a waaaay better job. It's awesome. Even the video is somehow
more dynamic and eye-catching than anything F1 could produce these days. They should hire some stuff from US.
But yes FOM needs to do a better job a getting the sound out better through the broadcast.
This is what the old engines sounded like though =)guffe wrote:They should just crank up the revs, everything at 20krpm sounds amazing even one cylinder!
And 30 000 rpms sounds even better

Yes, but that was not the point...J.A.W. wrote:You do realize that mill is a 2-stroke, guess they need to be un-banned for F1..

Sorry, I thought the topic was about engine sound. The video was just a quick example that high revving motor sounds good no matter how many cylinders it has (well 0 would be bad number for obvious reasons..).J.A.W. wrote:Yes, the point is:guffe wrote:Yes, but that was not the point...J.A.W. wrote:You do realize that mill is a 2-stroke, guess they need to be un-banned for F1..
A, Its about limiting piston speed, not RPM.
B, Its about firing pulses ( number/time) not cylinders, per se.

But they'll want avoid using the wastegate wherever possible.Thunders wrote:Apparently the Engines could be louder in 2016 already:

Yeah, but the wastegate will be used for maximum power setting.wuzak wrote:But they'll want avoid using the wastegate wherever possible.Thunders wrote:Apparently the Engines could be louder in 2016 already:
