WOW for Rosberg's pity attempt to slow down Hamilton. If any doubt left about the last year's Monaco incidence now, there is NONE. He has done it intentionally. There is no way this guy is going to beat Hamilton. No respect to him at all.

By the way, again sad for Raikkonen :( He was kind of unlucky.

My bet would be that if Hamilton makes it into the first corner in the lead, he'll win. If Vettel makes it into the first corner in the lead, Hamilton will have no ability to pass the faster-in-a-straight-line Ferrari.
Passes will be made in other areas where the mercedes will have better grip and acceleration out of turns. I think Vettel may have his hands full if he is P1 after DRS is activated. getting that 1 second gap will prove difficult.
For Sure!!

Lewis has supernatural powers and can divine a dry line like Moses crossing the Red Sea...

Lewis is the biggest fake in F1 ever, Rosberg will smite him in two as if hit with by a bolt from Thor ....

If the race sims are to be believed then, if he can stay ahead for a few laps (presuming he gets ahead at all), he may then begin to pull away because of better tyre deg. There's a big *if* there, but we've not seen enough this year - at a track with high deg - to presume it's definitely not the case.

A great performance by Lewis on wet, like almost always. But Vettel has done a great job too, quite impressive and as far as I remember he usually makes a great job when it rains. Nico.... last year he showed that he doesnt love a wet track, he is clearly behind Lewis in this aspect.

Great performance by Verstappen too, sadly Sainz was out because he is very good too when it rains. Nice work by Ericsson, it seems that he is gaining some confidence.

It would be grateful if Sebastian can overtake Lewis, at least we could enjoy an exciting race for a few laps.

The Ferrari was quicker than the Merc only in the last sector. That sector has the long straight on it and only 3-4 corners. In the "twisty" second sector the Mercedes was quicker by 4 tenths. Also slightly quicker in the first sector which has the slow T1-2 complex. The implication from that, along with comments from Massa about the Williams losing the top speed advantage over Ferrari, is that the Ferrari has found a chunk of high speed performance but not quite as much in the lower speed stuff. Or, to put it another way, the Mercedes has a better chassis.

Anyway, it's good to see a Vettel fan happy for once, after his dismal year last year.
let me correct your whole post for you
mercedes is running more downforce... period!
they have a more powerful engine and can afford to run more downforce with the added drag being negated to some extent by engine power... the end
stop with this mercedes super chassis nonsense....

Some interesting insights in to a driver's mind and how he thinks his way around the lap. I like the idea of the little notebook full of "secrets" too. 8)

At risk of going off topic again, how does one separate "chassis" from "downforce" in an aero-dominated series? If a car is quicker in twisty bits then that is going to be some combination of aero-grip and mechanical grip along with engine tractability. How do you say that one car is doing well because it has a better "chassis" but another is doing well purely because it can strap on more downforce because it has a good engine? If both are equally quick over a lap there is no way for an external observer to distinguish between the two. However, the fact that tyres aren't being worn out at a silly rate suggests that the car's chassis isn't bad at all.

Looking at the onboard footage (the only way an external observer can get "in to" the car), the Mercedes appears to be easy to drive smoothly and quickly in all corners. That is not just "great engine so slap on downforce". That's just a very well sorted motor car. I.e. the chassis, aero and engine are all working at a very good level. If any one of those was missing then the overall performance would be less. That's the same no matter who makes the car.

I´m really sad because of Sainz and the mistake/rain than prevented him from passing Q3. He did 39.8 in Q1 with a STR!!

I was excited and looking forward his perfomance in Q3, but he made a mistake on turn 14 in Q2 when it started raining (his own words) and was punished for that

Rookie mistake as he said, but he´s proving Verstappen will have a tough fight this seasson

No let me correct you ;-), 1. Allison: engine and chassis are equally responsible for distance to Mercedes 2. Symonds: over one lap Ferrari engine is as good as Mercedes (or something like that from memory)

I didn't think I'd say that but I hope Vettel wins the start tomorrow, just for entertainment value.

I am expecting Hammy to run and hide and win the race by 20-30+ secs and Rosberg/Vettel to fight for 2nd.

I think the prospect of a Ros/Vet battle is the only thing that can save the race from being another dull and boring Merc cruise.
