I wonder how much time losing in FP 1 & 2 cost Lewis this race concerning setup, hence better tyre management...

Nobody tests for the race on FP1 because the track is too green and they only get one set of Primes for the last hour. On FP2, he got the same running as Rosberg(2 fast laps on Primes and then the Options program), albeit started it later.

Gray Tarmac with lot of Haze and 6 teams running dark livery made it Very Hard to pick the Cars. the 4 running gray and black were the worst

They still test for the perfect setup in FP1 which impacts qualifying and long-run performance.

Perfect setup is a moving target, as the engineers say.

The impact of FP1 on the whole weekend's performance is the tiniest one and you can verify that with Sauber great performance in Melbourne despite both cars not running at all on FP1

I was just wondering about the safety car this race. Was it really neccesery? I mean, they have a virtual safety car or something like that, when are they going to use it if not in the situation when the car is simply stuck in the grave? I understand that they deploy the real safety car if there are debris on the circuit or damage of the bariers, but I would think that today situation was ideal for the virtual one?

^^ I think safety car was deployed because there was a crane on the track, staigth at the shooting line at turn 1. We don't want another crash like Bianchi's.
