Red Bull RB11 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They are still using Brembo calipers IMO. They just changed the disc manufacturer it seems.

What in God's green earth do you do with 9 lamba probes at the track? Nope... I can see using that on the dyno to calibrate each cylinder. and especially if the teams are using cylinder de-activation... but I cannot see any reason to use 9 on the track. My common sense is telling me that cannot be true. I would believe you if you said 9 EGT probes. The engines are turbo-charged and back pressure and reversions is a serious effect in these engines. The temperature difference across the turbo charger is important. I am going to say it is EGT unless you can prove otherwise.

According to the team thread they are using Carbone Industrie now and it used to be Brembo.

But it seems they can choose between both for each race or driver? As i found an article about LH changing his discs to another manufacturer after having a brake failure in qualifying at last years German Grand Prix.

I messed up the tweets, that was for STR. The 4cm most likely came from Key himself.
Meaning the new nose for STR will be a Mercedes/Lotus type nose.

Updated the tweet and it does seem like every team wants to run a Merc-nose.
Seems to me the thumb nose is a compromise, the blade nose is a cheap and secure crash test nose and the log nose of Sauber is a "end of the world and still be alright" type nose.

Just spoke to Ricciardo and he says that Red Bull will be returning to the Brembo brakes this weekend after they'd been trialling the Hitcos

edit: can someone explain please how you paste a whole tweet here please?
