Then you're gonna have "technical difficulties" once my car goes above 12000N (...of drag?)

BTW, about the ways to increase downforce for the next round, just keep in mind that big performance gains can be achieved even when you wouldn't expect them. Don't give up developing, whatever your current performance is: even the greatest gap can be closed with patience and perseverance.

Talking about more "concrete" ways to improve downforce, i think i'll release a small guide on Variante's topic, so that even aero newbies' life will be easier and the competition tighter.

Yes I confirm that, Machin.

To be honest I could easily add 500N (maybe more) at the front axle, but 0N on the rear axle...

My Saturday surprise is arriving a little late... I have to admit that I am emotionally and physically exhausted by the last week... Click on the link below to get a closer look at how Variante's design is performing:

JJR Racing & CAEdevice will follow shortly.

Cool! ...and strategically done not to show the precious diffuser :D

Will you release (normal) CFD images from the other entrants? I hope so!

I am just preparing the same for JJR Racing & CAEdevice. I can release some of the CFD images from the other participants (taken from the html result page) if you wish. I will try to work on having a participant section on the website to have teams history, which would be a great place for the pictures and maybe link to CFD result summary page (I will have to search my archives for the 2013 season...). Ideas welcome on best way to present the information...

Congratulations to Variante, fantastic car with huge downforce and lots of interesting solutions.
It will be very difficult at absolute downforce track like Monaco to keep up with you.
Congratulation to Matteo for podium place.
Im using OpenFoam Linux based with my own settings (solver+mesh).I also compared results with StarCCM+ to be sure.

Good job everybody! Special mention to JRR who with a slick design managed to reach the top! Variante and CAE are similar in the fact that they went crazy with the design, while JJR and I kept it simple. Obviousely he made it work well. Good job to Matteo as well for improving his pace (from what I could read from his previous simulations).

Finally a good job to everybody, now its time to analyze the results and improve for the next round! Follow machin's advices and you should start to get moving to the right direction, not to mention to look at what the other competitors are doing to give you ideas. If you know what you are doing however (unlike Kimi), remember that copying isn't moving forward. You have to create, take it to the next level!

As for myself, as I said it few times, I won't have time to develop my car. In fact I am surprised to even be in 4th place (although it was close). Makes me think what could have been had I pay attention to the floor level. Oh well, anyway, congrats to everybody, and thanks to the staff, they did a great job with this first round! :D

Looks like I need a lot more front downforce! I was surprised that the rear was as effective as it was, my diffuser still needs some optimisation before it starts working well.

Well done to everybody involved, and here's to catching you up in the next few rounds! :)

Good job I have MK2 in the works
It's possible that something weird happened with the simulation for your car, I want to double check this. I marked your result as 'provisional' for the time being.
Anything come of this?

Finished my new concept car and just set OCCFD off so will see what figure I get from that.
Once that is done I will make some minor modifications to the car I submitted for the first race (wing profiles and diffuser) and again will run OCCFD to see which approach is better.
The two cars are very different in approach with the submitted car being smooth and sleek but the concept car is quite aggressive with a large front wing, different rear wing, different diffuser and a solution to hide the crash structures without the fully enclosed approach DynaRace took.

Just got this in OCCFD:
Time = 344
Divergence has been identified. Sorry we were not able to find a solution to your analysis

Those who have used OCCFD, when opening the results in Paraview, did you find the model to no be smooth?
Mine looks like it has lots of dents in it. I assume it is just a lower quality setting in OCCFD for speed and ease of use?

Out of curiosity would anyone be able to work out what my lap time would have been if i had enough rear downforce to balance out the car? Mine is the Mercury motorsports car.
