Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Are the sidepod panels new? If I remember correctly they were one piece. Now they're separated above the intake.

Looks like Ferrari take this update quite seriously. I wonder how the far will perform. Good mind game against Mercedes :)

A bit surprising that Ferrari have so many updates ready! I'm excited to see how it affects their sessions this weekend...

I don't have SF15-T looked over so much, so maybe a dumb question - was the goldish cover on the top of rear crash structure there before? Looks like heat protection...

yea it was there .... there is a long drawn out debate about it being deposits from fuel additives somewhere on this forum

There is a very different approach to evolve the car this year. In 2013 and 2014 almost all upgrades have been useless, and the basic car was technical horrible

Agreed, the hot air exists are several inches higher than before. The rear pull rod used to go through the exit bodywork, now its the upper control arm inside the bodywork. I assume moving this higher would lead to more airflow between the rear bodywork and the floor.

At bottom of the rear wing end plates, a lot of cars have thin verticle fins but the horizontal ones at the front of the end plate - are these new and a unique design?

The sidepods looked small before from similar angles to what we have seen so far. I know they have these scallops now but I will reserve judgement until we see 3 quarter view from behind, side on and top down pictures.

The effect of this cut:

Reduced high pressure zone on leading edge of side pod.

Increased down-wash velocity to the coka bottle

Reduced frontal area and hence drag

Higher velocity going to the corner strakes (squirers) leading to the diffuser.

This is the technical thread for the SF15-T, perhaps make your post here:

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.
