Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is the slight arch to the trailing edge of the rear wing mainplane new (its higher in the middle)? I don't recall seeing that before. Also the more curved rear brake duct winglets:

Rear bodywork clearly tighter and higher placement of sidepod exits. The older shot is the original launch spec with the more open exit around the exhaust.

Shrank rear of SF-15T.

Long runs in FP2 did´t look to good compared to Mercedes. I hope new updates works [-o< [-o< [-o<

Seb said the hot and low grip track made it difficult to judge the impact of the new aero package. He was on the hard and did a very consistent long run in the mid to low 1:32s. Kimi did not seem happy, so its not clear what the long run Ferrari pace is on the mediums, which I believe both Mercedes were on for their long runs.

This is probably the largest aero "update" i can remember in years...
Really curious to see a "official" technical overview soon!
Could this just be a straightline focused update to be able to finally run with more downforce settings from now on?

No, they come and go based on cooling requirements of the given track/weather condition.

Yea I know that. Its just I don't recall seeing them on the Ferrari this year, even in places as hot as Malaysia..

Ferrari had problems in both FP1 and FP2. No grip and car was sliding around in every corner. I wonder if updates works, specially the rear. They can not blame the heat in Spain, Malaysia was much hotter and they did´t have any problems.

Everybody was complaining about poor overall grip. In my opinion the reason is that the track temp is so different from the test they made in winter. And also yesterday it was a little but too much hot for medium tires, but below 50C, which is ideal for hard tires. Hope this aero update works well, hard to fight Mercedes in Barcelona, but not impossible.
Ah also different asphalt from Malaysia in barcellona

Perhaps he was told to run the old car as a way of comparing performance gains. Or perhaps Vettel is seen by the team as the de facto Number 1 driver...

Far more likely is Kimi was not comfortable with the car on Friday, and to try and get comfortable, they reverted back to the previous spec. Seb was ok with the new parts so he kept them on.
