According to some Spanish websites Ferrari will bring an upgraded PW using perhaps 3 tokens. Honda will do the same but using only 2 of them.
And crucially have nothing to lose with williams (and red bull) not in a position to challenge them any time soon.f1316 wrote:Better to be racing at the front in the meantime since no one really expects them to win either championship this year.
Are they allowed to do that?f1316 wrote: Wonder if they might even split the cars and give vettel the new engine to allow him to push Mercedes in the short term whilst maintaining optimum engine useage for raikkonen.
On the upside, at least we get some continuity to previous years in terms of laptimes.FrukostScones wrote:No rain, damn!
Not enough for me, I want rain baby.Juzh wrote:On the upside, at least we get some continuity to previous years in terms of laptimes.FrukostScones wrote:No rain, damn!
I wouldn't bet on it.ollandos wrote:new engines (upgrades) new flexi wing rules ....looks like new season starting here.....lets hopes....
I don't think much will change. And I don't think Ferrari will find the gap decreasing to Mercedes much (if at all) either. Buy hey, I'm a cynic.dren wrote:I wouldn't bet on it.ollandos wrote:new engines (upgrades) new flexi wing rules ....looks like new season starting here.....lets hopes....
And then we'll have another 2014 Canada raceJ0rd4n wrote:Nothing will change, Merc will finally turn it up to 11 if Ferrari outpace them
I don't see why not.Juzh wrote:Are they allowed to do that?f1316 wrote: Wonder if they might even split the cars and give vettel the new engine to allow him to push Mercedes in the short term whilst maintaining optimum engine useage for raikkonen.
2014 Yeah, a potential disaster for F1, averted by Ricciardo. Imagine a car running half its power down and ending up winning. What a shame it would have been on other cars running full power and coming nowhere close. No, we don't need that scenario materializing.mikeerfol wrote: And then we'll have another 2014 Canada race![]()
I got what you are saying overall, losing in Barcelona with a "70% new car" by A BIG MARGIN and consistently down on qualifying by close to a second?godlameroso wrote: Nay, Ferrari is equally as good as Mercedes in trail braking into slow corners and top speed.
Being quite uneducated on these matters, can you provide some visual evidence of this please? Unless, you have bought some fancy words from these forums.godlameroso wrote: Mercedes is much more stable than Ferrari mid speed but their aero is much more sensitive, if it's windy I can see the Mercedes struggling.
godlameroso wrote: In all honesty this race is going to be like Bahrain but with more tire degradation.
Like the "70% new car"?f1316 wrote: Let's say Ferrari DO bring the upgrade and it IS worth 30 hp;
"for whatever reason" - Mercedes, the whole company went for weeks of mourning in the aftermath of their strategy blunder. And hey, Ferrari has been top notch in producing such miracles of performance enhancements and no reason why you can't be right.f1316 wrote: let's say also, for whatever reason, Mercedes don't bring any improvements or, at least, don't find any major gains. If those things coincide, I think Ferrari will be competitive on pure pace.
