I can't wait to see what he is going to do after last weekend. It's either going to be absolute domination or he will be beaten by Rosberg. I can't see anything in between happening.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if somehow Rosberg pulls off another one...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

So James Allen is reporting that Ferrari have supposedly gained ~30hp with the new PU, which they will be using in Canada.

I personally think this might be a close race. Can't wait till Saturday! I think one of the Mercedes will be on pole, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Vettel splitting them...

Is this "70% new" some kind of inner joke with you? Changing 70% of a car doesnt mean performance increase of 70%. As we seen with Renault and changing 40 percente of their engine doesnt necessary mean performance upgrade will be proportional.

Obviously whatever they did with aero worked because update that big needs time to fully understand. They were much closer in Monaco but thats not representative, so we will see what happens in Canada. Safe to say if there truly is 20-30hp increase (and I doubt that there is) we will see much more mistakes from Merc camp that quite evidently dont look like top team once they actually have to race with car that is not one second of the pace.

As for qualifying pace...Well Ferrari had .9 second quali deficit in Barcelona in 2013, and more then .8 second in Monaco. Back then V8s were pretty close and biggest advantage that Merc still holds is ability to warm up the tires faster then anyone, while Ferrari is in different spectrum unfortunately. Other then that I doubt engine difference is bigger then 15hp, and that biggest difference lies in traction and tires, and that wont be easily closed this year.

It feels like the only time Mercedes have had opponents really coming at them are Hungary and Belgium 2014 and Bahrain 2015, none of which they have won.

Malaysia 2015? Also I wouldn't say SPA 2014 was because pressure from other teams, Merc simply messed up. I'd say competition was tougher at Austria 2014 actually.

30 hp increase, that's based on the Canadian exchange rate, it's really more like 21 :D

When You watch old F1 season reviews each time they were in Canada there was a raft race between the mechanics crews across the rowing lake. Do they still do these? If not, when did that stopped?

Think they stopped it for health and safety reasons? Sounds like F1 to do such a thing.

They stopped doing it for a few years, don't remember when, but I'm sure they did it 3 or 4 years ago
