You are spot on there. Everyone lays it on to Merc for being dominant, but it's hardly their fault the other teams/manufacturers have done such a poor job. Come on, its usual to have some reliability problems, its has been part of the F1 during its history. To sum it up, Massa is on 30+ lap old SS tires and dooing consistantly low 1:13, with the best lap of 1:12.2 on that stint.
