Yes, but the only reason they did was because they were pretty confident that it's going to be a one stop based on Pirelli's strategy predictions.F1NAC wrote:So if it's 2 stop race and based on last years race it could be, Vettel has one set of fresh SS. Could be interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong but Merc drivers used all sets of SS?
As someone posted Schumacher did 1:07.9, but that´s not a pole timeMoose wrote:We're sniffing at the fastest lap ever at the moment. Rosberg's current P1 lap is the fastest qualifying lap ever, but schumacher did a 1:08.3 in the race in 2003.
Just to clarify, Ricciardo penalty is 5 seconds applied to his first pit-stop, mechanics must wait 5 seconds before working on the car, while Button´s 10seconds are a 10 seconds stop&go, no tyre change allowedJef Patat wrote:AFAIK:domh245 wrote:What will the back of the grid look like in terms of penalties. RIC: 5s
ALO: drive-through penalty in the first three laps
BUT: 10s
Makes for a fun battle RB/MCL, as long as it lasts
I thought it was unnecessary to get Vettel into the garage at 3:55 remaining on the clock. They should done a quick pitstop and got him out soon. Could have given him two more flying laps in the time remaining.f1316 wrote:Mercedes don't know why Ferrari didn't do a second flying lap and neither do I. On first flying laps the cars were very similarly - albeit Mercedes cars would have been carrying a bit more fuel - and vettel's first flier on his second run was faster than either Merc's first on their first run.
So whilst I'm not saying that's what would have been the result, seems odd that Mercedes, who generally heat their tyres quicker, would find benefit from two fliers and Ferrari wouldn't.
Not possible to do it in the pit box these days? I know refueling is banned but a quick turn-around would have been better.ME4ME wrote:He needed to refuel before his second run. Therefor he had to go into the garage.
