Of course. It was a bad call by Ferrari.FoxHound wrote:There's also the fact it's a 7km lap round this place + eau rouge each lap.zeph wrote:

Raikkonen sat at 2s gap for almost entire race and didn't even try to close up to massa.Silent Storm wrote:Raikkonen and Massa were in traffic while Vettel was in clean air
Wow, butthurt?Juzh wrote:Funny how bridgestones never blew out despite being pushed at 10 times the rate for the entire races more often than not.
Bottom line: PIRELLI IS ******* INCOMPETENT AT THEIR JOB.
Sorry mate... here it is....wickedz50 wrote:Throw some mud at me if the Ferrari's are out of the podium this weekend.
After the virtual safety car he was within 3tenths of Massa but then Massa set the fastest lap and we know how bad it is for the tyres to run that close for a long time. Even Kvyat on fresh tyres could not pass Massa easily.Juzh wrote:Raikkonen sat at 2s gap for almost entire race and didn't even try to close up to massa.Silent Storm wrote:Raikkonen and Massa were in traffic while Vettel was in clean air
Had Ferrari pitted Vettel 14 laps or so to the end he would've easily caught Grosjean, Kvyat's pace was clear indication of the difference, i didn1t understand the call.SectorOne wrote:?Juzh wrote:Yes, pirelli's incompetence is ferrari's fault hahaha. Both Kvyat (he actually clocked one lap over 2 seconds faster) and Verstappen were lapping over a second faster then Vettel at some points before the tire blowout. edit: They hit "traffic" which slowed them down considerably.
Basically the whole group behind Vettel was catching him at different speeds.
Ehhh... Pirelli's job is very explicitly to produce tires that don't last a whole race. The FIA, the people who pay them, very explicitly asked for that.Juzh wrote:Funny how bridgestones never blew out despite being pushed at 10 times the rate for the entire races more often than not.

No they should lose performance so that 2-3 stops per races are expected not that they should blow out suddenly.Moose wrote: Ehhh... Pirelli's job is very explicitly to produce tires that don't last a whole race. The FIA, the people who pay them, very explicitly asked for that.
It seems to me that Vettel's tyre blowing up was exactly the behaviour you'd expect from Pirelli doing their job.
Exactly. I think Ferrari anticipated/hoped for rain. they should have pitted Vettel when Mercedes did as well.Sevach wrote:Had Ferrari pitted Vettel 14 laps or so to the end he would've easily caught Grosjean, Kvyat's pace was clear indication of the difference, i didn1t understand the call.SectorOne wrote:?Juzh wrote: Yes, pirelli's incompetence is ferrari's fault hahaha. So underinflating the tyers has nothing to do with it?Juzh wrote:Funny how bridgestones never blew out despite being pushed at 10 times the rate for the entire races more often than not.

First and foremost, --- the regulations for being so tight. If you take away options, teams can and will resort to extreme measures to attempt to improve their position. In this case, Ferrari likely ran its tires too low, too long.Juzh wrote:Funny how bridgestones never blew out despite being pushed at 10 times the rate for the entire races more often than not.

Third, --- Pirelli for continuing to be an unwelcome source of anything other than decent rubber. But, I can sorta understand it these days, given the utter dearth of opportunities for meaningful testing.bhall II wrote:Yeah, I get that it's under massive loading.
