First of all, it got reported multiple times that the ICE was actually great as from Spa, matching the Ferrari's. Secondly, the ERS system definitely weren't unusuable. Yes they had issues with harvesting, but they were able to do it on a lower pace then the competition. Honda was actually able to fully deploy the 160hp during qualifying. In 2015, Honda's internal-combustion F1 engine was down 70 horsepower on its competition and its energy recovery system (ERS), which lets drivers deploy an additional 163 electric horsepower for 33 seconds, was virtually unusable. These engine troubles rendered McLaren-Honda entirely uncompetitive, placing second to last in the constructors championship.
Not for entire lap. I specifically remember alonso vs rosberg comparison from spa, where alonso trailed rosberg for something like 30 kmh (300 kmh vs 330kmh) coming into the bus stop chicane.turbof1 wrote:Honda was actually able to fully deploy the 160hp during qualifying.

There are some things that are very untrue in that article, like this:First of all, it got reported multiple times that the ICE was actually great as from Spa, matching the Ferrari's. Yes, I probably should have said it was so in general, with a few circuits still limiting Honda on that front. Certain circuits like Spa and Monza, which maximize consumption and minimize harvesting from the mgu-k, pushed Honda into fully emptying the battery and still having a part of the lap left. Other circuits did not inmediately provided that issue. The issue is the energy recovery from the mgu-h; high speed circuits put higher emphasis on that, even in qualifying.Juzh wrote:Not for entire lap. They haven't confirm or denied, they just say to treat it as speculation.Scuderia1967 wrote:Honda themselves have already denied thisAbhi719 wrote:It has been said that 2016 McLaren-Honda F1 Car Will Have 223 HP More Than 2015 Car

“These reports are unsubstantiated and merely speculative, and we ask fans and media alike to treat them as such.” I read "it's a lie" there...Redragon wrote:They haven't confirm or denied, they just say to treat it as speculation.Scuderia1967 wrote:Honda themselves have already denied thisAbhi719 wrote:It has been said that 2016 McLaren-Honda F1 Car Will Have 223 HP More Than 2015 Car
