Mercedes W07 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Clearly visible the 2 Wastegae Pipes.
Renault opted for a single sideways exhaust waste gate tailpipe and merc went with two underneath the main exhaust. Can anyone shed any light on what might be the repercussions ?

I was expecting 2 upper side wastegate pipes but they went with 2 down side pipes.

Apparently Mercedes leaves the choice of the Exhaust configuration to itscustomers

Anything possible in terms of manipulating wastegate flow to seal or energise the diffuser? You'd put the exhausts low in that case.

Whether the 2 pipes are over/under/each side of the exhaust, the structure shouldn't change the balance of the car, correct? But if i want to maximize the main gas flow, i'd put those two wastegate pipes like Mercedes did. Even if they were at each side of the main pipe, their gases would interfere with the main one

Edit: I still think this won't be the final configuration come melbourne-during seaon. Even though, the two of them stay under

With Mercedes showing it so prominent, I think we can assume they came up with something very clever and this is just to throw everybody off.

Or you know, there is nothing to be clever about, no silver bullets available and since there's no real performance to be gained with, you could just as well show it.

The regulations don't allow for anything 'clever' in this area. We'll see similar variations to this Mercedes layout on all of the cars.

Imagine those aren't the pipes at all...

The engine is put somewhere out of view with the camera just pointing at random tubes that aren't even on the car!

But you can see the hot air exiting the exhausts, so yeah, not a fake

I'm most interested in seeing if W07, or all teams, mimic Ferrari's radiator solution, and the direction Ferrari go with it this season. Aside from that, I am not expecting W07 to be hugely different than W06. We could almost call it W06-b.

Didn't Mercedes have a cooling system solution similar to this year's Ferrari, the only difference being V-engine compartment and (/that obliged Merc to have) the Canada update (engine cover bulk at the very rear)?

I think he meant the fins behind the radiators to keep airflow attached more easily, increasing internal flow and hence, making the radiators more efficient.

Mercedes has posted a new video on their Facebook page dubbed "WeAreW07".

Here is a snapshot from the video: Image

Doesn't it look a little bit different than the W06 (the nose)? Or is it just an illusion?
