so let's see which key figures we have for the sillyseason?

- Maldonado for a 2017 return
- Rosberg on a stay @ Merc or move to Ferrari
- Perez on a move to Ferrari
- Ricciardo on a move to Ferrari
- Nasr on a move to Renault
- Button on a move to Williams
- Kvyat on a move to Renault
- Grosjean to Ferrari
- Massa to Renault
- Vandoorne to Mclaren
- Gasly to Toro Rosso
- Alonso to Mercedes
- Wehrlein to Mercedes
- Ocon to Renault
- Sirotkin to Renault
- Ricciardo to Mercedes (according to Horner)

So

Mercedes: Hamilton/Rosberg/Alonso/Ricciardo/Wehrlein
Ferrari: Vettel/Raikkonen/Ricciardo/Rosberg/Grosjean/Perez
RedBull: Ricciardo/Verstappen/Sainz/Kvyat
Toro Rosso: Sainz/Kvyat/Gasly
Renault: Magnussen/Palmer/Ocon/Sirotkin/Massa/Kvyat/Nasr
Williams: Bottas/Massa/Button/Kvyat
Mclaren: Button/Alonso/Vandoorne

this is what's 'brewing around' right now, if i remember everything correctly.

in bold i've highlighted my current hopes

which should add:

Williams - Magnussen
Mclaren - Bottas
Toro Rosso - Ocon (thanks to the Renault engine deal)
Sauber - Ericsson & ????
Haas - Grosjean & Guiterrez
Manor - Wehrlein & ????

I wish for Button that he can be the star of a team before his retirement, he's fading away a bit at McLaren. So, Williams would be nice and would make it full circle for him (plus, he would suit Martini advertising)

If Rosberg desides to take an adventure (that nobody mentioned Renault yet), I'll see that they promote Bottas for a year before Wehrlein.

I don't think RedBull is going to change, but Kvyat is most definitely out of ToroRosso with his place taken by Gasly (and Sainz remaining as a super sub if anything changes at the big team)

Fresh blood with VanDoorne at McLaren next to Alonso

Räikkönen is An odd one, he isn't the fast Kimi from ten years ago but he does still bring in point plus the fans (and so the Sponsors) love him. If he's up for it I can see him drive another year.

I think Williams is the only place left for Button to go and its mainly due to him staying too long at Ferrari.

He showed great driving and skills at Mclaren after his Brawn success. Unfortunately Mercedes plummeted to rock bottom and its been a blur for years, affecting Button obviously.
Jenson should have left Mclaren back in 2014. I wonder if he would have managed to get into Ferrari as i remember there has been interest in JB. I think he could have been there in
2013 already when Perez went to Mclaren.

Williams would do Button good if they'd perform well, but won't battle for the win. I could see things going that ironic that if JB goes there next year, 2018 they're going to have Honda
engines. Like a plague for JB.

1. Mercedes are too sensitive for a Lewis/Alonso pairing so scrap that.
2. Two Germans in Ferrari? I don't think so. Scrap Vettel/Rosberg at Ferrari.
3. Alonso/Rosberg looks like a good driver profile for McLaren
4. Vettel/Ricciardo would suit Ferrari's current tribalistic tendencies ( re:Ricciardo's Italian heritage) and would be an interesting pairing
5. However Vettel/Grosjean at Ferrari is more likely with the Frenchman already having one foot in the door
6. Lewis/Ricciardo at Mercedes is also a possibility with the same political weighting as the current Lewis/Rosberg pairing. I think it is the kind of relationship Toto can manage since neither of the two drivers are overly political.

Ricciardo ok, but Lewis? really? it think he is really political and he loves to use the psychological war as Fernando does.

But I agree that it would be a great choice because Daniel seems to be an easy going guy.

Exactly. Don't we remember how Lewis arm twisted Mercedes to give him No.1 status? Don't we remember how he junked the rules of engagement and was adamant that Nico shouldn't get equal status? Don't we remember how he has, time and again, rejected the rules of engagement and kept getting priority pit stops, even when he was trailing, when the fight was between the two in the front?
I tell ya, he is really bad a** political.

Is that 'When will Maldonado crash again?' site still up? It looks like Sauber might take his money.

If Button 'leaves', Vandoorne will get the nod.

If Nico jumps ship, Werlein or Alonso will get the seat.

I'd say Perez or Grossjean to Ferrari if they don't retain Raikkonen. I think they will unless Raikkonen has a horrible end to this year.

Renault-smernault, they'll pick up whatever crumbs are leftover after the lovefest at the pointy end. They'll likely have a much improved car, too.

I sense a big mistake by Ricciardo. (leaving RB).

Ferrari seems to have decided to continue with Kimi. If this is true this may affect many other drivers options to change(Ricciardo, Rosberg, Alonso, etc). I like Kimi but if he is out of Ferrari a lot of interesting changes could happen.
