Mclaren will not be able to compete against the Merc engines - Williams & FI. TR might be possible :( :(

McLaren will struggle here :( :(
In theory.....but last year this was one of best races for them, at least in Q.
Fuel consumption was a problem in race and maybe this year as well, but PU upgrade and new fuel may help whit that.
Mclaren wil surprise here.

If there is an update it will be to maximize the electrical generation from the MGU-H. It won't improve the ultimate one lap pace but it should see them go around a second a lap faster at the beginning of the race, with a smaller benefit of a couple tenths towards the end. It'll probably be enough to just edge out TR.

Don think so. Monaco was an expection and in Barcelona Ferrari was faster. If Ferrari solves its problems with qualy they will be ahead on this race.
So you would be surprised if Red Bull fought for the win on merit?
Yes, Mercedes should be superior here and Ferrari shoud return to form. So If I see a RB fighting for the win, I will be surprised.
Outstanding. Then my original quote is correct. :)

I predict a genuine battle between Hamilton and Vettel for the win. I think Ferrari have a good chance to win this one.

Well this weekend will be boring if most of your answers are correct.

Red Bull had a good chassis at Monaco in 2014 and 2015 and weren't any where near as fast as the Mercedes. Monaco isn't a circuit that doesn't suit Mercedes because they have a good all around package. While Canada will suit the Mercedes no doubt and I do expect them to be the fastest cars. It will be interesting to see how close both Ferrari and Red Bull get to them with their upgrades.

I noticed that in some of the Canada previews that Nico has mentioned how interested he is to see how close Red Bull are to Mercedes after the Monaco result.

I think they had a chassis problem in 2015 that wasn't resolved before Monaco.

nah, rather confident Ferrari is going to ruin their chances once again by the failing tactic qualities of late paired with
bad luck and disappointing qually efforts and a gridpenalty due to a engine/gearbox change.

Perez will win.

I think you are underestimating Williams with no good reason to do so. In the first races they were confortably the fourth force and, sometimes, fought with RBR and Ferrari. Now suddenly, after their best result in Monaco in years ( which is the worst track of the season for them), they are now behind FI? Because of Monaco?

Williams, I guess, shall be easily in 5-8, depending on how the race goes, like strategy, safety cars, crashes and rain. I would be more surprised seing Force India beat Williams than seing a Williams on the podium.

Even the wet seems not to be such a big deal anymore, since Massa had the best time on Intermediate tyres in Monaco.

But were then super bad in canada. Ok, renault had a lot to do with it, but also that car was not where it was supposed to be performance wise for red bull.

In Canada 2015 it was purely the Renault engines fault. It lacked power, reliability and drivability. In Monte Carlo the car qualified 4th and 5th so the Red Bull chassis was good. The problem in Canada was purely down to having an engine that could only run at 80% which is a big problem at Canada, but not so much at Monte Carlo. In 80% mode the 2015 Renault lacked about 100hp to anything with a Mercedes or Ferrari engine which is a big problem at Canada.

The difference between 2015 and 2016 is that the 2016 Renault/Tag Heuer is not running at a 100hp deficit to anything with a Mercedes or Ferrari engine anymore and so even if a Williams or Force India somehow manage to get in front of a Red Bull. The RB12's superior slow speed performance, especially out of slow corners should see it able to use the DRS along the straights and then stay ahead.

Two races ago in Russia Red Bull's "best chassis" was 1,7 s behind Mercedes, explain that please and no, drivers didn't gain speed and talent in the meantime, it's called quicker car and less competition. Perhaps this popular chassis championship is a rather pointless exercise and others factors exist (tyres for example).
