Jolyon's Lap around Baku. He actually seems better than Daniel at this! :)

Ricciardo said it's flat (during commentary over video of game footage), and Alonso said a lift will probably be required (I couldn't tell how sure he was) (during first question of driver's press conference).
It´s flat in the game he was playing, F1 franchise games are not known for their accuracy.

Haha! Whenever I have a nightmare, it is about Maldonado leading the pack behind the safety car and actually crashing into it! That was a guy who could have crashed with the tarmac while driving in a straight line. What a guy!

Not a video game this time.

2 dangerous parts, ultra high speed with kinks and 1 tricky tight corner.

In the coming years i see a chicane in the fast flatout section near the end of the lap and the curb of the tight corner pushed back slightly for a wider entry.

Did someone else find the video (Sevach's post) Scary ! The sound of the video and the COMPLETELY EMPTY circuit? As if something is about to happen.

Some places of the circuit, gladiators would be able to gain a lot of time compared to ordinary mortals who would end up leaving a lot of time on the table! The tentative one would be unable to be on pole.

I can't tell you, how much I miss Maldonado here. We need someone to just throw the car up somewhere there !

Funny how till a few weeks back, all discussions were about how conservative F1 has become and F1 has become too safe. A few top of my mind, Gravel replaced by tarmac, Halo device, Safety car race starts, Tyre pressure, making F1 cars 5 sec faster, etc. Then we arrive here and all the talks are about how F1 ignores safety of drivers, track being dangerous, more run off areas. I'm not making any point here, just an observation.

Good point. I like those "dangerous" tracks and well, the danger is quite limited when the worst parts are also the slowest ones.

Omg, that's an epic circuit! It's like Tilke cross bred the old Adelaide GP circuit with Monaco!

I can't wait to see the action on it! =D>

For those interested, Channel 4 has a live-broadcast of Practice 1 at 10:55 CEST (an hour earlier if you're on London time). Practice 2 is not broadcast from what it seems.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Not sure if flat, but they will probably not use brakes at all

I´m wondering if that might be too fast. I mean, I´d love it to be too fast, but I can see FIA sudenly introducing a chicane half straight to reduce top speed because going around 350kmh between buildings and even trees might be considered way too dangerous.

I couldn´t blame them for that tough, as I actually think that would be too dangerous. A crash at those speeds can bring unintended consequences. Imagine a car losing a wing after a collision and taking off at those speeds between buildings and trees... :wtf:

That´s one of the reasons I hate urban tracks, safety is compromised wich means racing is compromised too. At least if they want to be consequent, but they´re FIA so who knows

Jeez, I can see a horrendous accident coming on that straight/pit entry. Two cars battling for position while another is slowing to go in the pitlane. Seems pretty dangerous to me.

Track is looking actually quite good to drive with the cars running round. Some corners are dead slow and narrow though. That long straight is loooonng!

Williams Bottas going fastest on his 16th lap on softs very interesting but very early days. For such a long lap degradation doesn't seem terrible though

All in all looks like the racing will be spectacular (and have to be precise) around here
