Last year the rules weren't going to change so chances of seeing this kind of changes were close to none. I'm not in favour of more testing is better. Suppose the results from last week were not satisfying, no good correlation and they need to retest? We can't know for sure. Maybe as you say, extra data gathering. Also, last week it was Fernando's car, this time, Jenson. Maybe checking different opionions/conditions/...
