Yeah, fastest in testing 2008 was 1.18.3 by Massa, so the unofficial quickest for this layout is still a bit awaybonjon1979 wrote:That's the lap record gone. Well, actually, it's faster than the 2010 pole, I think massa did a quicker time at one point in testing. Interestingly, I don't think ferrari are out of touch with that time. They're only 1,8 away on the mediums so you'd have to think they'd get down there on the SS. I feel that Merc are still out in front but that Ferrari aren't too far off it.
Felipe Massa set a time of 1:18.339 during 2008 F1 testing using Ferrari F2008.bonjon1979 wrote:That's the lap record gone. Nico mentioned it too, that Ferrari looks solid, of course he added it's too early to judge, but still...f1316 wrote:As much as we can't draw too many conclusions just yet, I haven't heard anyone (GA included) say that about a Ferrari in a whileFrukostScones wrote:GA:http://www.autosport.com/live/commentar ... -day-threeMario Andretti used to say that the ground effect Lotus 79 was painted to the ground. It really does look good and super consistent.
it s GA, so maybe all hope is false.
I seriously doubt that the Merc is flat out.bonjon1979 wrote:That's the lap record gone. Well, actually, it's faster than the 2010 pole, I think massa did a quicker time at one point in testing. Times during winter testing are always faster than the times later in the season. The time of Massa needs to be the reference point.Gerhardsa wrote:Yeah, fastest in testing 2008 was 1.18.3 by Massa, so the unofficial quickest for this layout is still a bit awaybonjon1979 wrote:That's the lap record gone. Yeah I recall Merc saying they'll put the hammer down during the last week of Winter testing. It could be a bluff though...turbof1 wrote:Times during winter testing are always faster than the times later in the season. Still, it is only the third day. Next week the teams are bound to bring upgrades and there is probably more to be found with the cars in their current state. I do not deem it impossible that the lap record falls.
I don't think that's going to happen. It looks like the softest two compounds aren't quite lasting a lap around Barcelona which is a very high deg track.PhillipM wrote:To be honest I'd be surprised if someone doesn't break into the 17's.

I know the Mercedes has broken into the 1m19s bracket on super-softs, but watching at the fast Turn 9 right-hander the Ferrari doing 1m21s on mediums still looks the most impressive car to me. It just looks so stable and consistent.
If the car is not on the limit even the manor will look super consistent.CriXus wrote:Is Gary Anderson notorious for his bad conclusions?FrukostScones wrote:GA:http://www.autosport.com/live/commentar ... -day-threeMario Andretti used to say that the ground effect Lotus 79 was painted to the ground. These cars are brutally fast
ohh wait.
Aparently Massa did a 1:18.339 in 2008 Testing.
So 1.7 seconds away from that...
