No, fair enough, but think it would be nice if he was joined by someone technical when he does development corner - for a bit more clarity in the detail - and since Symonds is joining the sky team seems like a good fit.nevill3 wrote:I think Ted dumbs thing's down a great deal, he cannot spend that much time in the pits and not learn a thing or two. Ted often blunders across little snippets that when added to the bigger picture reveals thing's for me. You should not take his apparent ineptitude for dimwittedness.
If we are talking sheer size, I'd put Renault right up there now for budget and workforce size. But I understand what you mean about McLaren being a top 4.Wass85 wrote:Big difference is Mclaren are known as one of the big 4, the press like to build them up when the facts are no team are given a right to win, you have to go out there and earn it.GhostF1 wrote:In the same way Renault, Toro Rosso, Force India, Sauber, Haas and Williams probably won't be winning any races either without any unfortunate circumstances for the top runners...Wass85 wrote:

I am getting the impression this year will be another step forward for McLaren. Keen to see how the new Honda engine spec acts during Test 2. I think it's fair to say we'll see a healthy boost in times.
I want to agree with you that he must pick up a thing or two hanging around the pits so often but he just seems to panda to the top teams, (easy way to look smarter than you are). My favourite recent example is in development corner he applauds Mercedes greatly for having the mirror glass not occupy the whole mirror housing...... "Very very clever aero detail here".... Just lol.nevill3 wrote:I think Ted dumbs thing's down a great deal, he cannot spend that much time in the pits and not learn a thing or two. One has to remember that Ted has a degree in politics and not anything relevant to engineering.f1316 wrote:Maybe Pat Symonds can help Ted out with these in the future - I mean, I quite like him, but he doesn't really know what he's talking about (everything's a 'nice aero detail'!)nevill3 wrote:Ted Kravitz's development corner video has some interesting details

Exactly, so get a tech guy to help him with the analysis of chassis development!Cold Fussion wrote:One has to remember that Ted has a degree in politics and not anything relevant to engineering.f1316 wrote:Maybe Pat Symonds can help Ted out with these in the future - I mean, I quite like him, but he doesn't really know what he's talking about (everything's a 'nice aero detail'!)nevill3 wrote:Ted Kravitz's development corner video has some interesting details

Yep I know what you're saying, the sport stands still for nobody. Another thing that irritates me is the likes of Kravitz and Co who insist something is wrong at Ferrari just because they are not winning. They aren't doing anything wrong it's just Mercedes are doing an exceptional job by being the team to beat. They don't automatically have to be doing a bad job just because they are not winning.....GhostF1 wrote:If we are talking sheer size, I'd put Renault right up there now for budget and workforce size. I actually cannot stand 90% of the media reports regarding McLaren. It's all snide remarks. They never talk positive or with constructive criticism, it's all rubbish mockery reporting. That includes Ted. He just rolls his eyes most of the time and puts in a dodgy remark mocking the state of the team which he wouldn't actually know anyway.
Where's the huge headlines of Renault having blown up a couple power units with Toro Rosso or having some issues that sidelined Redbull for a majority of a test day and the same also for the RS17, kind of signifies Renault's new PU has a probably even more teething issues than Honda to be frank.. and it isn't a simple oil tank problem..what about Hamilton nearly having a big off in the W08 or Stroll having a crash and Sainz also going off. Literally one thing happens at McLaren and it's a miserable overexaggerated headline... Where's the professionalism for god sake.. it's just tiring to read "doomsday for McLaren" everyday because a Honda staff member has a cold.
Sorry rant over.
Here you are acting like the bad medias you criticize , exaggerating, oversimplifying and mixing everything togetherGhostF1 wrote: I actually cannot stand 90% of the media reports regarding McLaren. It's part and parcel of F1, create drama where there is none. Whenever Mercedes gets a real chink in it's armour you can expect Kravitz and co go all out on that one (I was surprised they didn't get more hysterical over Lewis's bad luck with reliability last year). Until the McLaren Honda Partnership starts delivering better results, they will remain the paddock's whipping post.Wass85 wrote:Yep I know what you're saying, the sport stands still for nobody. It looks like a rocket, I wouldn't be surprised to see them fastest at Melbourne.radosav wrote:https://youtu.be/JqVpuowpM7A
That red bull at 1:25 wow
Haha! That's laughable. I actually think I underplayed the truth. Let's be honest. Honda might have issues at the moment but it's a joke the media doesn't put the spotlight on anyone else having issues. Can you imagine if it was Honda with a PU failure on film day less than 100km's in, not Toro Rosso... God the reports would be even worse than they are now. I wouldn't care as much if they bothered reporting on the fixes or plans Honda have in store. The focus is too much on the negative and I personally think it hurts the sport by creating fury amongst its fans that don't get to see forums like this or hear from people like Wazari. It's my main qualm at the moment. There's creating theatre and drama, then there's just bad journalism ..Blackout wrote:Here you are acting like the bad medias you criticize , exaggerating, oversimplifying and mixing everything togetherGhostF1 wrote: I actually cannot stand 90% of the media reports regarding McLaren.
