Could be track dust, but then you have to wonder why there are no track dust markings like that anywhere else except the direct vicinity of the exhausts. Or for that matter why the plumes come off the diffuser they way they do.

It's track dust. It's the upwash from over the top of the diffuser that gives it that distinct look.

You can tell there was some amount of dampness or water on the track; the dust seems to be slightly muddy.

I think he's right, it's poor man's flo-viz right off the circuit combined with a bit off dry ice from the start of the race from the radiators.

Scrutineering would've picked up exhaust blowing surely?

The video in question was from testing. Ultimately I'm not sure if dry ice would survive long enough to vaporize at that specific moment, nor if it would produce such an appearance.

what would stop them from making that flat piece, thats covering half of the opening in the shape of a aerofoil, with strakes underneath to help with the flow out of the car.. just seems like its missing detail.

looks like a blanking plate to reduce the amount of cooling it can do. you can see an empty bolt hole towards the tip of the shark fin and then two filled in when you look back towards the front
