So Ham did lose pole on his second run in S2. He was good and then second secror suddenly off by 2 tenths.

Still, very good lap by Bottas. He was right there and delivered when it mattered.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Thanks a lot!

Even if VET didn't a good 2nd lap probably he couldn't do much more, maybe 0.3 gap could have been possibile with a perfect lap. Today Mercedes were clearly superior and if they don't do any mistake they have a good chance to score a first and second place

Verstappen looked very good, until his last lap in Q3, a pity.

Ricciardo improved by a lot in that last lap as always.
Awesome driver and guy.

Btw: position 2 maybe slightly at an advantage? T1 inside. A good start and late braking could get you on the inside of the corner?

Example: 2014 start between ROS and HAM

Do we really need a weather prediction for the desert? I mean last year I predicted it would rain the Wednesday before the race and it did, but no such luck this year.
Bah, rain.

medium?
I tought BAH is 4th lowest after Monza Canada and SPA?
ye, it goes in this group after those low df circuits.
Disagree. If you look at the circuit, except for corners 8 and 10, the track simply allows you to exercise power if you have good amount of downforce. Exit of turn 1, then you are rolling through 2 and 3 as if they don't exist. Turn 4 is just a small breaking point and the more downforce, the faster you can go on throttle. Then 5 and 6 flows. At 8 a hair pin bend and you throttle up to 9 and another full breaking at 10. From there, you don't need a great deal of downforce, but the more the downforce, slightly better exits you can take at rest of the corners.

So, this is definitely not a low downforce circuit. You will never hear anyone speak of and neither do you see trimmed wings. If SIngapore and Japan are considered highest downforce, and then Monza is considered lowest, Bahrain is in the middle or slightly towards the first bracket and stands behind Silverstone and then Austin.

I wouldn't say so. Terrible wheelspin could occur due to the dust. F2 guys on the right hand side had massive problems with the start

Ferrari loosing out on pole because their focus is on Rai handling issues?

Or maybe they are using detuned (safer) engine settings after the issues they had yesterday?
I would say they do, for their qualy max power mode. Prior to Q3, lap time splits were in the usual range compared to previous two races...

Tomorrow's start could be crucial for the race. If the order prior to first stops is BOT-VET-HAM (due to Seb starting on cleaner side), than Mercedes should wait for Bottas to get in the pits first and if he waits too long Seb could undercut him. On the other hand, cooler temperatures could play to Merc's advantage in pure race pace...

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

"It's a big margin but the Ferrari drivers had understeer which may suggest they're protecting the rears for tomorrow. There wasn't five tenths between us yesterday evening so we have a very clever bunch of guys who are going to put their heads together to come up with the best strategy."

I have no one to talk to in real life about F1...i have to express my broken bleeding hart that is bieing eaten alive by Ted Kravitz who looks like 'meerkat' and makes Pet Symonds look like 'gandolf' :) for whom, i must say im overwhelmed to have the oppertunity to listen to.
Bottas looks like he has more weight than Hamilton...

Well done Botas, great result for him.
Ferarri will be much harder opponent in race for sure.
Renault make steady progress, Hulk show how much they improve from last year.
Hope for first points tomorrow.

Hamilton inexplicably lost 2 tenths in s2 on his 2nd run. He is still happy though. Bottas car was set up more for qualifying. His turn in was much sharper than lewis' even to the untrained eye. Ham seemed to have done what Ferrari did and dial in more understeer to save the rears.

I dont think so...Sky's graphic has him up 0.052 after S1....at which all he had to do was match his S2 and 3 times.
He probably overcooked it somewhere in S2...maybe at the hairpin before the back straight? I guess well have to look at the onboards...
