Clearly the stewarts did not want to interfere, only after Hamilton's headrest came loose (a godsent for the stewarts) almost immediately also the punishment for Vettel was given.

Monday's focus within the FIA is to decide if further action is warranted.

Could be almost 30-45 days before any punishment is handed out IF after today the FIA feel more investigation is necessary.

Expect nothin more than a press statement of next steps or an apology from today's meeting in Paris.

Could also turn out the want to hear from Lewis too.

I read somewhere in this thread the reason FIA is considering a further penalty is because some stewart did convice during the race the rest of stewarts to not disqualify Vettel because of not interfering with the WDC

If true, that´s interfering with the WDC as fighting for the WDC should include fighting for the WDC within the rules, something Vettel didn´t do in Baku so if he deserve a DSQ allowing him to score points in the race would be unfair for the title fight

Is there any source for this or it was just some unfounded rumour?
Personally, I think that they should simply up the penalty points from 3 to 6. It will have the effect of giving the race ban but recognises that it's a cumulative punishment from his other indiscretions. Then Seb will have a clean slate with regard to penalty points but the incident will have been punished with the necessary severity. We have seen max get 3 penalty points for accidentally crashing into the back of someone while racing. I think accidentally rear ending someone then overtaking and ramming them all under the safety car deserves more penalty points then max got...

From autosport:
The International Tribunal has a fairly open hand in terms of choosing what punishment is handed down if it rules that the defendant has been found guilty.

One interesting point that could be relevant in the Vettel case is that previous records will be taken into account - and that acting 'intentionally' does not have to be proved.

Vettel already has nine penalty points on his licence, and escaped a Tribunal hearing last year after apologising profusely for a radio outburst towards race director Charlie Whiting at the Mexican GP.

The statutes say: "Subject to the principle of proportionality, [the Tribunal] shall take into account the gravity of the facts, the degree of culpability, and past record and character of the person in order to determine the nature and severity of the sanctions

"Unless stated otherwise, offences or infringements are punishable, whether they were committed intentionally or negligently."

Once the hearing has been completed then a decision by the court will be taken by a simple majority of the members of the judging panel. If there is a deadlock, then the president of the hearing will get the casting vote.

Will be amazed if he gets off without further punishment, assuming it gets referred to the Tribunal of course.

"Of course, we could have issued a more severe penalty," steward Paul Gutjahr told the Swiss newspaper Blick. "Like the black flag or a race ban. But Hamilton had no damage, and we did not want to influence the world championship too much."

If Vettel gets a one(? )-race ban, will Giovinazzi drive?
Probably. They don´t have too much time to prepare the driver for the race. At least he has driver this season which is always helpful.

WUT

what an ****le.

i was surprised this was the outcome as the penalty has been served in regards to the race incident,
this will be about the disrepect to the sport, so i was surprised they done the same thing again.

One is showing he pulls alongside and then turns into Hamilton. The other is just a continuous turn , almost like it was an accident as he was busy looking at the Mercedes

Guess that means it's OK to hit somebody as long as you don't cause actual damage.
