This is VERY informative. Max Mosley explains the entire McLaren/Ferrari debacle in 2007.
Amazing interview! I can't believe that it hasn't been linked earlier.

How fair is that and why? That was a political decision by FIA and deliberate overstepping of technical regulations. Those cars in front were technically illegal but disqualifying them would mean a title for Hamilton so they didn't do it. That has nothing to do with sport or with sporting or technical regulations but only with political decision not to allow Hamilton to become WDC. If he wasn't behind those cars, if someone else who had no chance for title complained those car would have been disqualified for sure. That's the deepest political mud of FIA and WMSC.mep wrote:-don't disqualifying the the drivers in front of Hamilton or giving him the
That doesn't mean that Ferrari wasn't cheating with flexing floor.mep wrote:-Based on this knowlege they called Ferrari a cheater (after Melbourne the flexi underfloor/wing disscusion)
Mosely has a weird memory of things... Ferrari's oversized barge boards? McLaren's 'damaged' engine seal (on Mika's car)? Etc..manchild wrote:he says that all cars are always disqualified no matter how small technical irregularity is in question.
Is this really a fact. It's is just assumed as (very) large gaps in the story have been 'filled in' by people who have no little chance of actually knowing. (You may have seen my thoughts on Stepney's defiance and public statements through this all. There is lots we don't know.)manchild wrote:...in fact it was just a leak from Ferrari by one dissatisfied Ferrari team member.
I thought so myself, since I am very sure that Ferrari abd BMW had to remove it from their vehicles after the ban was enforced.captainmorgan wrote:Wasnt the mass damper ban initiated by McLaren?

Err... You are aware that this was a pure mistake by the drivers? It's not like it was a team decision to block Heidfeld and Alonso.P_O_L wrote:We are not even 2 races into a new season and mclaren creates yet again controversy and gains a penalty.
No they have not been punished enough by Mosley imo. They have learned nothing. They keep on dragging our sport through the gutter. When will it end?
Well i dont know. To me it looked pretty silly a professional team like mclaren cannot guide their drivers to stay out of the way of other cars. That is the job of the pitwall. It was rather a lack of action of the team in general. And with the 2007 spygate in mind, ud expect them to keep a low profile for the time being.Metar wrote:Err... I agree with the grid-penalty - they have blocked, after all - but that was no team action, for sure. The drivers just happened to be there at the wrong time, as they (probably) assumed no-one else was on a hotlap. After Melbourne, most drivers are very aware that blocking is easily punished.
Why P_O_L you’re right those dastardly McLaren’s how low will they go. Did you see Ron (Dick Dastardly) Dennis he was on the pit wall and he told Hamilton and Heikki to quickly stop that Alonso pigeon.P_O_L wrote:We are not even 2 races into a new season and mclaren creates yet again controversy and gains a penalty.
