Kimi was able to manage Lewis by being slower in the twisty bits where you can't overtake and then accelerating in to the gap behind Seb on the bits you can overtake. It was masterful by him in that regard. I think a wounded Seb won't have had that luxury so would have been an easier opportunity for Lewis had Ferrari allowed Kimi to race.

Kimi looks pissed off and knows that the team consider him to be a road block for Seb. But I guess he'll bank the pay cheque and consider it a "day at the office". Would that we all got paid so well for covering someone else's behind for them.

Classy by Mercedes and Hamilton. They will have earned a lot of respect for that. Bottas looked a little unhappy because he knows he wasn't fast enough today. He also knows he owes the team one in the future.
I think deep inside he knows he can still win if he gets the chance, but I think he also believes that he's lucky enough to be still in F1 and driving for Ferrari as well knowing how much other potential there is around.

Make no mistake about it: without the issue Seb was the fastest guy on the track - you saw it in the first stint where he was much faster than Kimi and pulled away comfortably before the issue got worse.
Wrong. The gap between Vettel and Kimi was never more than 3.2 seconds. Especially running behind a car and still being 3 seconds is remarkable.

I ask to anyone who do you think mercedes and Ferrari would have signed to drive their cars if (hypotetical not real case) only a car for team would have been permitted as an extreme measure to avoid any form of team order?
I think Hamilton and Vettel.
If you agree with my opinion, then Bottas and Raikkonen are "natural" seconds in their teams.
Moreover if as in the case with Raikkonen he has managed to gain so less points than his teammate after 10GP.

Kimi might have just got another year of Ferrari secured if he wants to do what he is doing currently.
Just one year? I think more. Where on earth will Ferrari find another driver so comfortable in playing second fiddle? Even if Max and Ricciardo become available for next year, there is no way Ferrari would hire either of them.

Trouble is his pace was against Bottas. We all know how much faster Lewis was over Bottas. Lewis screwed up in qualy and it was his own fault, but the pace in both qualy and race between the 2 cars was pretty close.

It was an understeer issue and the more the track rubbered in and the balance of the car changed with the fuel load, the more the car came back to to him. Kimi was leashed and didn't eve make the attempt just the gesticulations.

(on pace) Verstappen, Hamilton would have both overtaken Vettel like for like because they would have forced him making an error. Something Kimi wouldn't have dared do.

No. The fact is, whatever the times were being delivered, should be considered. Everything else is just whatever you want to think.

Lol which race did you watch? If Ferrari let Raikkonen and Vettel swapping position, Raikkonen would have won but Hamilton would have overtaken Vettel. For Ferrari the result is perfect, so great team effort and great strategy.

Kimi never has a sniff at seb in reality. So I dont think Lewis would have made a move on Seb
If Lewis was unable to make a move on Seb, as you said, I don't see why Kimi should have been given the position by Seb as it wouldn't have done much except take away Seb's points from the driver's championship.

However, Seb's steering issue would probably raise the chance of him being able to be overtaken by Lewis should Kimi be given the position, so it was better for Ferrari if Seb were to stay out front to secure a 1-2.

Why do you think Seb doesn't deserve the victory?
He had a rear gunner the whole race yet he appeaerd to be celebrating like he fought and held off kimi for the whole race. I was just saying how Bottas knew what happened on the podium, yet Seb appears to think he did all the work today. And he didnt.

Grosjean would jump at the opportunity. He is no WDC material but is fast enough if he has a car underneath him that has the pace. Plus it seems like Ferrari are really good at braking. So that is one big issue solved for him.

If LeClerc gets into Sauber next year, he goes to Haas next before replacing Grosjean at the Red team inside the next 3 years. Touchwood!

To the point of Max or Ricciardo being available, let's just say it is first imperative of Ferrari to build a car that is capable of challenging for WDC. No point in having the best drivers if one is going to be a second or seconds off the pace in most races. Look at McLaren in the past years.

I didn't like what happened today, but if I were in Ferrari I would have done the same thing. Raikkonen is out of the WCC contest and a track fight between the two could have ruined the 1-2. Hats off to Hamilton.

Just saw an interview with Magnussen while Hulkenburg confronted him and Magnussen just told him something that you don't want to be asked by a guy. :?

To be fair to Bottas, he agreed to give the position to Lewis, knowing Lewis may have had a better chance of overtaking Kimi. Bottas, however, worked hard since Saturday to get that third position and it may have been even more unfair should that be taken away by Lewis after their agreement. I say he deserved that podium as much as Kimi and Seb deserved theirs.

With Seb, I might be wrong, but as far as I know, there wasn't an explicit team radio message asking Kimi not to race Seb (there's a difference between letting someone through and letting someone race someone else), so Kimi not being able to overtake Seb despite Seb's steering problems shows how hard Seb's worked to keep that first place.

Edit: Deleted line about other tracks
