Valtteri Bottas topped the timesheet at the end of FP3, thanks to a reasonable quick installation lap early on in the session. As rain arrived 10 minutes later, no one was able to improve on the dry times, with just a few venturing out on track to get a feel for the wet track.
Oh what a surprise, Ferrari are faster on Sat than Fri - we've never seen that before....
Really wish people would get over jumping to conclusions about Mercedes advantages on a Friday - we know the pattern by now.
Likewise, Mercedes still probably have a little more potential from FP3 to quali than Ferrari, the 'little bit' somewhat dependent on what this new PU does.
After FP3 some conclusions:
- Kimi on his fastest lap has had 324km/h in speed trap 1 and was quickest in S2 being almost 3 tenths faster than Vettel or Lewis
- Vettel has had 328km/h and lost 2,5 tenths in S2 ending 2 tenths behind Kimi on overall lap
- Lewis has had 332km/h and lost 3 tenths in S3 ending 2 tenths behind Kimi
- Bottas having some grip issues as Niky Lauda said on Sky but I think he was focused more on race setup hence Lewis more towards qualy
- Perez did 338km/h on speed trap 1 saying Merc PU could run faster in qualy and probably Merc is not showing all their cards yet ...
- Same with Ferrari when Kimi`s last run on US at the end posting a speed of 335km/h when he did a couple of race simulation laps
- Vettel did to and there were some at least interesting laps : Kimi 1:49,7 and Vettel 1:49,1 and in the end Kimi did a 1:49,9 (maybe having traffic) and Vettel a 1:48,7 !!! No times from Lewis or Bottas and Ricci did just a 1:50,1 ... So between FP2 and FP3 Ferrari gained 7-8 tenths methinks ..
- Force India and Haas was the only 2 teams running on soft tyre hence could be on 1 stop race as I presume Merc is too ...
Education is that which allows a nation free, independent, reputable life, and function as a high society; or it condemns it to captivity and poverty.
