Despite an unusual race, and finishing just 9th, Lewis Hamilton ended the title fight by sealing his fourth F1 World Championship at Mexico on Sunday. With his third title at Mercedes, the Briton joins Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in the club-of-four.
When was the last time, the speed trap difference was so low between Honda, Renault and Mercedes? I am assuming the downforce levels between McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes to be more or less equal. Hence, not comparing to FI, who probably have much less downforce than McLaren.
From what I remember during one of the FP sessions it was mentioned that Honda had not yet released spec 4 yet and the engine was 3.something (7? 9?) but can't really recall. Otherwise I may have just understood it all wrong so if anyone knows better do correct me.
I'm a little lost here: does Alonso have last PU spec? Is Honda closing the gap at least when they have one full lap to recharge ES?
McLaren have had decent Qualy speed for a few races now.
That's why the need factoring in as a team that is possibly up there in 2018.
In Austin they also had superior speed for the first two or three laps...then it went backwards. With full batteries the Honda PU is ok, they just fail to load them during the race with the MGU-H.

Yep. Everything points to the car being fine if it can get something like consistent comparable power from the PU.
I had a wry smile on my face when both of the Hass drivers mentioned that the McLarens won't be behind them for long.
Verstappen is gonna bag this one unless his engine says adios amigos.

I am not sure. The way the tires are behaving this weekend, I don’t think they will be able to get enough heat in the front brakes to make it across the long starting straight. So the first corner is going to be very tricky. The race might well be decided there for a number of people.
It doesn't matter. If Hamilton gets P5, he's Champ. Vettel in front doesn't matter in the slightest. P5 = done. He's gonna let Max and Seb fight it out, and not endanger his own race. DNF by trying to jump in the mayhem could result in a DNF with those 2 in front to overtake. Hell, if he was in front and Seb and Max were on his tail, he might even be wise to act like he's blue flagged and just move off the racing line, wave at them while he lets them pass, and then wave during the entire race behind them and to the crowd. just to play with them.
P3 should be easy, even if the Mercs were nowhere during Qually.

One Force India podium is missing in this season so far, I hope a big accident between Max & Lewis and Kimi & Bottas do their Finnish hug and Ocon gets that podium, I want this race to be epic.
With that the driver championship will be spiced up too, as Vettel wins this one and lowers the gap by 25 points.
