Pure class from two 4 time WDC in the interview area! Genuine respect there! Wish it were like that on the forums.
Then watch what Hamilton said in the ziggo (dutch tv) post race interview. What happened there with seb? "Yeah.....that was...but still I rise, you know...."

Hamilton Alosno battle was the best part of the race. Brings back the feeling of the good old days.
Nothing like when these two meet on track!!

Vettel was flying though i must say. Ferrari and redbull seem to be the strongest in the second half. Ricciardo was carving through as well before his car failed.
For Sure!!

- Vettel can't win even from pole (again), symbolic of the '17 F1. It took one corner this time to mess up.

- As for the whole rubbish season, removing any competition inside (Rosberg, Bottas) and outside (Ferrari choices) can really help. You can thank two top teams for ruining it before it started.

- For old school connoisseurs: another example how one stoppers make everyone push 100%. Not a single fight for positions in the top 10 (Vett, Ham don't count).

Congrats to the big boss! Lewis Hamilton! on his fourth world championship!

At the start of the season they said he couldn't do it against Vettel in his faster Ferrari. They said the Mercedes was a diva that couldn't be tamed. They said Lewis was inconsistent. They said Vettel had never lost a chamionship lead. They said Lewis would crack under pressure in the second half of the season. But us real fans knew they were oh so wrong.

It was a great championship fight guys. Come at us Alonso and Max. Bring on 2018!

I am not a vettel hater. I quite like all the drivers this year.
But i can't help but notice that Vettel came out of turn 3 and was well on his way down the straight, then he came off line to touch lewis then he came back online. It all happened too controllably for me to beleive he lost control.
The car did not understeer as he was already out of the corner. The car was well on it's way and in the middle of the track. I am not sure what possesed Vettel to slam the throttle and turn into Lewis as soon as he saw that Hamilton was going to pass him.
I still believe he has an anger management problem, and impulsively saw the championship slipping away as lewis passed by and just did anything that he could to stop him, and that came in the form of turning into the tyre of the mercedes.
Again this is without bias, as i don't have any grouse with Vettel, but that move was intentional and is under similar circumstances to Baku. Watch the video again and take note how he comes off line (car already straight and under full grip) and hits lewis, then controllable comes back online after the hit.

How do i know he had enough grip? Look on Bottas' car behind. Doing the same speed and came off the apex almost the same as vettel. No drama as he picks up throttle and is also in the middle of track just like vettel. Compare bottas and vettel to see the truth.
The head on camera looking towards T3 shows Vettel looking left towards Hamilton as he moves closer towards him.
Forza Jules

I apologise for my comment on Lewis not being classy forever etc. I saw this interview and it was harmless. You portrayed it in a devious way.
I am devious like that! I apologise and welcome also Hammy to the club! May I try (as I am so devious already anyway) to probe for your opinion on Hamilton asking about it on the radio to his engineer as well?

He said it in exactly the same words on sky, no coincedence I would think:

https://youtu.be/jycoFd_AxRs

Of course he is not saying anything outright, just implying, he is in F1 longer then today but If I am devious just, then how do you explain what Hamilton means here?

This has to be contender for the most boring race of the year? Other than the first lap "drama", which robbed us of a race for the win, the only notable on track action was when Vettel & Hamilton had to overtake Massa & Alonso. All other drivers just let them through, what was that all about? Literally every driver Vettel & Hamilton sailed up to going in to T1 just stayed left and let them pass down the inside. The best part of the race was Alonso vs. Hamilton. Bottas was 20 seconds off the lead, Kimi was another 30 seconds behind? What's going on? It's a massive shame the top 3 didn't make it cleanly through the first lap, I feel like we missed out on an epic battle for the victory. Ah well, congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for another well deserved WDC.

Vettel's was soooooo dirty with his move on Ham. It was 100% intentional. Bullseyed on the rear tire.

You are so heart broken, just like Vettel, don't take it so hard, don't take it so personally. Next year a new chance all over again.

Next year might be real exciting, McLaren back, Ferrari in the mix, RBR back (i hope) force India creeping closer, Renault improving? that will be the chance for Hamilton to even more underline how great he is (he truely is, not being sarcastic here).

It's a truly truly awful track. The cars have problems with aero due to the altitude so for some reason they decided to use a track surface that offers absolutely no grip whatsoever, making moves around half the track near impossible. DRS barely works due to the lacking drag on the car you're trying to pass. It's flat, the corners are all slow, mostly very narrow and 2/3rds of the track is awful.

Design is bad as well, the compromised absolutely everything to get the track to go into and around the stadium. They really should have had some kinda hairpin with the run off into the stadium with a couple Germany/Malaysia type straights into/out of it, then go around both stands on the outside. The having to go through the middle makes the last corner terrible, the complex slow and awful and designed with effectively zero possibility of passing inside the stadium.

If they had a hairpin Germany style with the stadium next to it, the fans there would get so many overtakes to see throughout the race. As it is, nothing, just everyone filing through slow as hell. Three awful races imo and the sooner it's gone the better. Unfortunately it seems to be getting well attended by the fans despite being crap races so... we'll see if Liberty choose to renew it or not, 5 years afaik so 2 left for sure.

Bad altitude for a track, bad design, bad surface. Maybe if they reshape some of the corners, resurface the track so there is some actual tire deg and grip. That is the other issue, bad grip is one thing, no tire deg so there is basically no strategy possibilities makes it bad. Sochi has that issue two, both need resurfacing with far more abrasive surfaces. Sochi actually has interesting corners, Mexico just doesn't.

Vettel s driving has been a disaster in the races this year, and he tried slashing hamilton s tyre there.
Looking at a replay in slow motion from Vettel's POV, he was sawing the wheel a lot to keep pointed in the right direction under acceleration but I am pretty sure the last 'saw' was unnecessary. On the other hand, he had more to lose than Hamilton. It's not like he is hot-headed. ;)

Not only sawing..
also listen to the throttle as he lined up and locked in on the rear wheel of Lewis. Stabbed the throttle as soon as the target was in sight.

https://twitter.com/F1/status/924765105182580736

Watch the above carefully... See how Seb targets the wheel of the Mercedes and note that in no way did he understeer or lose control.

Anyhow the races only had a few highlights. Not a good race at all and makes you wonder if this track has a future on the calendar. Something needs to be done about the DRS.. or maybe the layout needs to change. The stadium section is the worst part of the track.. to Baku like..
For Sure!!

I think Verstappen will be the main challenger to Hamilton this weekend.
I'm still going with Verstappen.
Time to collect my winnings.
