Red Bull RB14 Speculation Thread

If Honda understand it is for contractual reasons then why would they have a problem. From all accounts the new Honda is more powerful then the Renault already and should be around Ferrari performance by middle of the year.
They said they were going to be equal with Ferrari by Spa...2015.

Not sure that they have equalled Ferrari's performance from Spa 2015 yet.

Can we not make this Thread into a Honda vs. the World one too Please. For all we know Red Bull will be using Renault (ohh sorry, Tag Heuer of course #-o ) PU's. And as long as there is no heavy tangible evidence this will change, let's stick to that Premise.

There's speculating and then there's ignoring all available evidence because it doesn't fit your pet theory.

ignoring what evidence.

1. Renault have been absent from red bull all winter and Red Bull have said nothing about Renault aside from one statement that apparently they are over there reliability issues only last week.
2. Honda have been at red bull all winter and Red Bull know how good the new Honda is and have been testing the Honda in an RB13 chassis since about october but have no idea of how the new Renault will be.
3. Red Bull have had several months of seeing the Honda to know if it is as good as we are hearing.
4. There is nothing linking Red Bull and Renault from a sponsorship point of view.
5. Red Bull have been singing the praises of Honda and totally dissing Mclaren in how they dealt with Honda.
6. STR13 looks like it is going to be extremely competitive against the mid pack.
7. Max has been to the Honda factory and has resigned with Red Bull.
8. Red Bull and Toro Rosso would both be factory teams and so paying out Renault contract would not require paying Honda for engines.
9. Red Bull and Renault hate each other and the engine supply was only out of necessity. Both parties would welcome a split.
10 Information from this site puts the 2018 Honda engine ahead of Renault already and reliability is not a concern.

What is your source, that Honda has been in Red Bull factory and that they are testing engines in their chassis?

And now with evidence for all of those bold statements. There is not one source that tells that RB have fitted a Honda engine in an RB13, or if the 2018 engine performs better than Renault's. As someone before stated: Red Bull's entry on the FIA entry list shows they'll use a Tag Heuer PU in 2018, and if they don't they will not score any constructor points. The only option would then be that they rebrand their Honda PU to a Tag Heuer one, but why would Honda buy that?

There is a new piece on AMUS on the 2018 engines, again mostly speculation like yours but there is a nugget of information that will burst your theory. Dr. Marko is quoted (who obviously knows the 2017 Renault and 2018 Honda performance) as: he thinks!! Honda will maybe!!! catch Renault by mid season. So maybe and thinks arent really strong praises for Honda, only praise was prolly the reliability on the dyno.

Source? How do you know that they have been "absent"?
2. Honda have been at red bull all winter and Red Bull know how good the new Honda is and have been testing the Honda in an RB13 chassis since about october but have no idea of how the new Renault will be.
How do you know RedBull have fitted a Honda engine to an old chassis? Also, are we expected to believe that RedBull haven't seen the Renault engine yet? Really?
3. Red Bull have had several months of seeing the Honda to know if it is as good as we are hearing.
We're hearing? From whom? When?
4. There is nothing linking Red Bull and Renault from a sponsorship point of view.
Like last year, you mean?
5. Red Bull have been singing the praises of Honda and totally dissing Mclaren in how they dealt with Honda.
Standard political mind games. Moving on...
6. STR13 looks like it is going to be extremely competitive against the mid pack.
They haven't even launched the car yet, let alone run it on track with others. How the heck do you conclude that they look competitive?
7. Max has been to the Honda factory and has resigned with Red Bull.
Max will want to be in a Mercedes, a Ferrari or a RedBull in that order. The first two are unavailable so he stays where he is. Engine supplier is pretty much irrelevant to that.
8. Red Bull and Toro Rosso would both be factory teams and so paying out Renault contract would not require paying Honda for engines.
Er, not sure that's right - two factory teams would be one big bill too many even for Honda
9. Red Bull and Renault hate each other and the engine supply was only out of necessity. Both parties would welcome a split.
True. There is no love lost between them and no doubt Renault will be glad to see the back of RedBull after years of name-calling and blaming.
10 Information from this site puts the 2018 Honda engine ahead of Renault already and reliability is not a concern.
What information? Who knows the respective outputs of the two units? Reliability is a concern, especially in an engine-limited series.

So you're basically making stuff up it seems. #-o

....and we're going round and round in circles

So to put an end to that:

1. Read the AMuS Article:
https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... 80103.html

2. Process Marko's words about how the Renault PU was fired up at Red Bull a Week before the official Renault Fire Up Video was released.

3. Profit

Ferrari sidepods or not? If yes, I think they will be considerably reworked.

The two unveiled cars so far have had Ferrari influence on their design (one had the aero guy from Ferrari and the other basically a team that buys parts from Ferrari). I don't think RB will go that way, they have a different philosophy of design IMHO.

I think that SF70H sidepods doesn't suit their lowDF sidepod design so from all teams, I would least expect from RedBull to adapt it.

Low downforce design? Maybe you mean low-lift design (elegantly implemented by Williams, just for the record)?
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
