Scuderia Ferrari SF71H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This makes me really excited to see clean, overhead shots of it. Can't wait for the overhead comparisons vs other cars.

If you told 18 year old me I'd be this much of a dweeb, he wouldn't believe you.

2 tone halo - makes it look skinnier?
It surprises me that the other teams with brighter coloured Halo's haven't done the same thing as Ferrari here, i.i. keeping the out-side as with colour and making the underside a black. Surely there will be glare off the white roll hoops.

Those sidepods remind me of the 641 somehow, very cool.

Are the mirrors directing airflow down into the top sidepod intake?

The rear end is shockingly slim. Potentially that’s only because the SF70-H was a bit shorter and fatter, but wow. I feel that’s the most aggressive packaging on a Ferrari in many years. Overall it looks like a compelling step forward. I can’t help but be optimistic as a Ferrari fan, but I felt like that in 2014 so clearly it’s meaningless

The front wing/nose really looks like the McLaren. Is it a new wing or is it the paint scheme confusing me? I find it interesting it also has 2 more slots in the most internal part of the wing than on the mid part.

It's also crazy how from the front perspective you can't even see the rear wing with that horrible halo and that massive roll hoop (seems low compared to others). It must be hard getting good clean air there.

Could this be a tactic? having the halo roll hop shadowing the rear wing on straights and in yaw activating more of the rear wing to mitigate straight line drag? Maybe the mirrors are involved in this switching?

Both the champion and the runner up team have chose to go for subtle evolution and nothing glaringly different! OR Are they holding back some of the gimmicks for the very last moment?

Those sidepod inlets are incredibly small! Seems to be a trend so far, but a clear indication that thermal efficiency has taken a big step forward on all the PUs this year.

Very interesting to see them copying an idea from McLaren, rather than Merc or Red Bull.

Very clean packaging at the back, the car looks really sleak.

The wing mirrors look very unusual, need to see a better shot of them up close.
