Successful G.P. riders have almost always found it easier to get wins after dropping down to WSBK,
- if they get a decent factory-backed ride..
But very few WSBK stars have 'cut the mustard' as G.P. racers..
& now Dorna owns both series, ol' Caramello is dumbing-down the Superbikes, making the likehood - even less so.
I always believed that Ben Spies will be the next big thing from WSBK to MotoGP due to his aggressive drive style. After him I couldn't see anyone as exciting. J. Rea is a brilliant driver but I think he spent too much time to WSBK to make the transition now.

Watching the flattrack races reminded me of a story (if i can hijack the thread for a moment)
there was a very flash young rider Skip Aksland who had come across the pond to transition to road racing and in Italy after the GP belting down the autostrada here is Skip spreadeagled against the back of his winnebago with lots of italian police guns pointed at him, there had been a bank robbery in the village close by and the robbers used a similar looking winnebago as a get away vehicle!
purse for winning the AMA Pro Flat Trac Daytona round last year.......................$ 4,410.00
and this is what for (Calistoga track) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-6nnY3ZpMo
i guess they still have podium chix though
Rea has only really come good while on Kawasaki which has been the best bike for years. Sykes won all on that bike too. I don't see Johnny anywhere good enough to get a top motogp ride.
As for feeder series, Moto2 all day long, all young (apart from the odd Barbera) and using the GP circuits. Plus the better talents get through it better with 1 engine and only 2 decent chassis'. Where as superbikes is like MotoGp, meaning you need a good bike to shine.
Although Alex Marquez wont ever be a MotoGP champion. He's been there too many years in the best team without winning many races. This year is his best chance but i feel Oliveira and Bagnaia are better.

Yeah, its too bad Johnny, that the regs have become so prescriptive,
& all machines must now run 4T fours of specified cylinder dimensions..
I recall seeing them 15 years ago, when there were 3s, 4s, 5s, (& 2Ts were still allowed!), it sounded great.
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"
