Seriously, you think Honda will show you the pre-chamber, the thing they've faced ridicule and humiliation to understand. The thing they fought tooth and nail for after years of trial and error, or the MGU-H which probably costs more than the bare block itself? The thing that probably is drawing IP from a variety of different fields? No one that's worked so hard should feel compelled to do any favors, certainly not to people so flippant. Rather harsh but true non the less.

Gasly said he could drive flat out all race, that's a big improvement over last season where McLaren were constantly whining about saving fuel.

Tost congratulated Pierre on amongst other things his fuel management. I think it’s reasonable to say that he did save fuel during the race although he was also helped by the VSC periods too.

Pierre talking about driving flat out could refer to driving to a delta.

I don’t think it likely that Honda have suddenly made their fuel consumption issues disappear overnight although I would be interested to find out if the ‘new’ TC and MGUH fitted for Bahrain were upgraded for performance or merely featured a short term fix for Gasly’s problem in Melbourne.

I agree, his pace in the first and second stint were good and close to the limit I think. In his last stint however he seemed to be saving fuel compared to the competitor cars, check out the STR team thread for lap time analysis.

This year, insiders say Honda have closed to within about 12bhp of the Renault and that a further 25-30bhp is due with an engine upgrade at the Canadian Grand Prix in June. Honda never divulge performance figures, and only reveal when upgrades will appear at the race in question.

No they didn't, they took the actual figure (20kw) and converted it to horsepower - 27.

That much power is easily worth 3 tenths. Which means they would have finished 40 seconds behind the leader instead of 60. If the team gains 1 second of lap time they can certainly win races.

the chassis needs to up its game as well so to be more than 3 tenths , from here to Canada iam sure the chassis will evolve and the rear will sharpen
