AFAIK they only changed the central section of the diffuser, making it a bit more squared.
It makes me optimistic to see that the much better pace in Bahrain is mainly due to better set up work. They already seem to understand the car better, of course this could be only due to the track's characteristics.

That small change can be very big change in terms of diffuser performance stability, actually. That, along with better set-up and you have a solid car. It was evident when the car was rolled out that it is a solid concept with changes made in all the right places (a lot of drag reduction and extending the floor for efficient downforce), while continuing with some good solutions from last year.

Nice onboard of the front wing showing the flex at speed vs braking from 1:02m
At 1:44, you can also see what happens when the car moves out of the slip stream and increases the load on the wing.
It also seems to be much more stable in clean air compared to when following another car.

Trying to take the camera angle in to account, it looks like they've opened up that slot more. The Australia wing looks like they're almost overlapping but Bahrain has a wider gap.

No, they have the same gap, but the upper one is now reinforced with metal...

Based on the above comparison between the modified diffusor used in Melbourne FP1 and the Bahrain version I must admit they are the same. The different angles of the photos from Bahrain made the center channel appear more rectangular. This image proves otherwise.
