I still don't think we'll see the real 2018 car until Silverstone. Though this will be a nice upgrade probably good for half a second.
You've been saying that for a while .... what makes you say that?
New ideas learned during the season and the lead times involved in manufacturing the parts. Design, CFD and wind tunnel testing, validation then finally on the car. All that stuff takes a couple months. The Barcelona update has been 4 months in the making going on 5. Silverstone is the better part of 2 months away, so I'm guessing there, earliest for the French GP.
But if Barcelona upgrade has been in the oven for nearly 5 months, what makes you think that is not really 2018 car? I reckon NEXT big upgrade could be Silverstone, but first you need to put first iteration of 2018 car on track. Hopefully in Barcelona, after some delay. Can't wait to see that "unseen" front end

Well the updates could be delayed because the whole car works as a package, maybe they needed to tweak the front end to get it set up for what they have planned for the middle of the car, and by consequence the rear.

When Production is that far behind, what gets produced changes. Example if your gonna produce Delta1 and it doesn't get produced for whatever reason and during that time R&D have made Delta2 Delta3 they're gonna skip to Delta3 straight away. Naturally it would depend on the part.

so far so good for the team ...positives ..4 strike finish trouble free weekends....good points and a lot data for learning the car and tires ...negatives ...the pace is not enough for mclaren ..lets see the upgrades on chassis and after the renault engine no2 with little more power ..how can effect ..we dont need to match the ferrari or mercedes pace ..but to be close ..and the gap is to big right now ..i hope for a big step in spain and flat out work after for more and more speed ...i want to see alonso title challenger

I was thinking, if Alonso didn't have that start clash, could he reach the podium?

No rest for the Magician, he'll be racing in Spa next weekend.

I wonder if part of Alonso's paycheck comes from Toyota and having free Kimoa branding on the car. I can't imagine it's hurting sales of his brand. If nothing else they associate his brand with his driving.

I would imagine so, Andrew Benson did mention that his WEC commitments augment his Mclaren salary, alluding to a pay cut.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

First of all.... how did ALO bring that car without 2 tires to the pits, just how? Then, luck and consistency played in our hands and P7 & P9 in a weekend which should have been our worst before the b-car is just great. 4 races in 2018 and we have more points than entire 2017 season, now lets just keep improving so we can be 4th team on merit and if everything goes good why not to be in a mix for a podium on few occasions. Like Fernando said at the end of the first race, now we can fight.

He lost the rear tyre quite late.

I presume BCN means Barcelona something something......He did say it was a definite for Spain and was like a B spec.

I think it’s time to give Eric B some credit for team operations and the team’s position so far
and good pitstops and strategy
Are you sure about good pitstops?, they rarely are in the top 10 and never in the top 5.
